Google is indexing my site twice

Until recently I was indexed once with a high PR5.
Now my site is indexed twice. The URLs are different and it seems that the PR is split into two times PR3.
What can I do to get Google index my page only once?

Sorry can you explain your problem, are you saying your index page only was listed now other pages within your site are listed?

I have this problem only with the index page.
All linkers were linking to us with a user tracker. (?AFL)
When Google indexed the page, it was indexed with the?AFL code. This is a partly dynamic page.
hen clicking on the link in Google, the only thing showing was the background and the sideline. All dynamic stuff was not indexed.
So, we fixed it in the code.
Now Google is indexing with?AFA instead of?AFL and the whole page can be viewed.
This used to be all a high PR5.
I asked all the linkers to change the links to us without using the AFL code. Half responded my request. Which leaves us a whole bunch of links with a?AFL code.
Now the page is indexed twice. Once with?AFA code and once the url as it should be. Both have PR3 now.

Hi

Sorry I've been out on meetings, I can't help you but I'll drop a few notes around to see if anyone else can help

You should be able to fix the problem by setting up a 301 redirect for the old url. When Google requests a url using the old?AFL it will be given the new url. After some time, all the links will be merged and your PR should return to normal.

Well, thanks anyway. Maybe I'll just have to wait. Google will find out at some point.
Who knows? Maybe the next update is going to give the solution. If it ever comes......

And the funny thing I saw today.....

With PR3, my AFL-coded site is still #11 of about 1,360,000. The sites under me have PR5 and PR6. I didn't check on which page of the serps the PR3 sites appear. I guess somewhere between #70 and #90....

I am getting confused now. (?!?!?)

Sites are not ranked by PR on Google. I wish people would understand that.

Think about it: Every search you do, what would the top two listings be. Probably a Yahoo category page, followed by a DMOZ category page. But they are rarely on the first page and yet often have the highest PR for a given topic.

i have a similar problem that i really need to clear up...

back in the dayz i was using a mix of [wigetfinder.com...] and [wigetfinder.com...] at random... as were, and are, many of the links to me. Surely google should know that the www doesn't really mean jack? But I'm indexed twice, once with, once without

i tried using modrewrite, but i got a horrid mess because i have an extensive virtual subdomain structure

There are many solutions for these problems posted in the Website Technology Issues and Perl and PHP CGI Scripting forums, including solutions for subdomain-equipped sites. Fixing the problem is easy, it's defining the problem that's difficult.
