No pagerank bar in Google's directory listing?

what does this mean?

e.g. take a look at this category:
[directory.google.com...]

the last three entries don't have any green Pagerank bar value in front of the url. How does this come? Do these pages get no pagerank bonus from this category, no matter if Google/DMOZ?

Has this been discussed before? I couldn't find any relevance.

Not true - look at the PR bars, plenty of them are less than PR4. This has been discussed before although I haven't found the thread. Basically sites have a green bar if they're in the Google index, i.e. they're spiderable by Google. They're in the directory if they're in the ODP. So a page that is in the ODP but for one reason or another Google hasn't spidered will show up with no green bar. This may also be true for sites with an extremely low PR - you don't see all white bars in the Google directory as far as I know.

ahhh, that makes sense @John_Caius

at least according to the symptoms. However I have a site with multiple domains, where most domains where indexed by google except for the one that is actually listed in ODP and other sites so I don't know why this is happening. I have like several sites with a higher PR that backlink me but the domain that those links are pointing to does not show up within the Google index and this phenomena is like for 3-4 months now. Strange thing actually.

A client's site had their green disappear and their site sunk to the bottom of their ODP category when they had a penalty for having doorway pages. (Their prior SEO had installed the doorway pages - not me!) Their site was listed in the Google directory, but when you searched for their name the directory search returned a "not found" even though the listing was definitely there.

A few months after we took out the doorway pages they got their green bar back and now are near the top of the listing in their cat.

However, last time I checked one of their competitors, a national retail chain, had their green bar removed and now they had sunk to the bottom of the listings.

I know of a case of a perfectly legit site that has a PR6 subsection listed in the ODP that shows grey toolbar in the directory. Sometimes Google botches this.

I don't use any doorway pages whatsoever. However multiple domains point to the exact same content though I didn't use those domains to be indexed they're still there, maybe Google thinks it's spam because of this.

Maybe I should deny access to those domains via robots.txt and let's see how the bot/index will react to it =)
