Google & AOL

TV ad where they explicitly mention Google

Just saw an ad where at the end they say AOL is "now faster with Google", or something like that. There is no way AOL is going to go back to Overture, as Overture hopes, when AOL is putting out commercials like this.

Maybe someone else has seen AOL mention Google in TV ads before, but it's a first for me.

I happened to see and notice this too.

AOL used Google as a selling point.

Would that be in the US or the UK..or both
AOL advertise heavy in the UK but I never heard google mentioned.
If not maybe they should, AOL needs all the help it can get

First for me as well - but kudos to them on doing that.

I've seen / heard that ad here in the med city several times on TV. Seems to be a selling point (and a good boost for the Googster) :-)

I was eating out somewhere tonight and looked up at a TV. It was running an AOL commercial, and I happened to look up right when they showed the Google logo. I don't see our logo on TV that much, so I was confused for a second and then got a little thrill. Pretty neat. :)

I was browsing an advertisement last week (I can't remember what it was), but there was a monitor on sale. On the monitor was Google's homepage.

>AOL used Google as a selling point.

The amusing thing is how stupid this is. I don't use AOL. I use a real ISP for Internet connectivity. I have set Google as the home page of all the browsers that I use. The folks at Google seem not to mind if non-AOLers use their search engine. This isn't much of an AOL feature unless I have to pay AOL to access Google.

It is a selling point when the competition is using a "kitchen sink" engine where every click leads to a pitch to sell you something (eg: msn).

I bet AOL feels the same way. In partnership with AOL [google.com]

rfgdxm1... AOL often does the same promotion with WebMD, as if it were something exclusive to AOL. I'll just keep accessing them directly.

>Seems AOL will be buying Google.

Alphawolf... AOL will be lucky to buy a sandwich when Time Warner gets done unwinding their stinky deal.....

Yep. I just downloaded and signed up with AOL8 to test something. Google is displayed in a left hand banner window for a search powered by Google-like the commercial.

Hey, some people think AOL _is_ the Internet. They don't even know to click the little blue "e" to run IE many times.

AOL is for the many people that type in 'www.mydomains.com' into their searches.... I get DOZENS every day!
