Sadly the google news cache no longer works. It could have come in particularly handy during war coverage.

Not that I'd mentioned it before, but until recently if a document was missing when you search the google news SERPS, you could bring up a plain text version by searching with the cache: operator

If you chose 'cached snapshot' from the toolbar, it would run the query on www.google.com and fail to return results, but if you then clicked the news tab, you would see the story as it was fed to google news.

One of the most interesting things about google news was finding and getting to read the articles that got pulled the same day by their paper... anybody else enjoy this trick while it lasted?

Interesting. I didn't know there was a news cache at all. Obviously it was a glitch. Funny how they don't show a cached page for news. It's the one place where it would be handy to get around the traditionally slow loading and web spammed out news pages.
