Getting static and dynamic pages to work in Miva Merchant

I understand that to get really good results with search engines when yoy use Miva Merchant, that you should consider adding some static pages. Well, I have done this but have run up against a problem.

Because the pages are static, it seems impossible to me to keep a "session" going, and so jump from dynamic to static and still keep the contents of your shopping cart! Has anyone else noticed this?

For example I go to dynamic pages, buy some stuff, then alight upon a static. If I now click Shopping cart - it's empty.

How can I get around this?

How is it maintaining the session? Is the session ID in the URL or a cookie? If it is in a cookie, then it shouldn't drop after passing through some static pages. If it is in the URL, that is a problem for Google.

Google seems a little screwy with the .mv extension, sometimes. But I have .mv pages that rank very well. Then again, I'm not using Merchant, just straight Mivascript for fun stuff.

Yes, the session is maintained through the URL. Is it possible to change the way Miva Merchant handles sessions to using a cookie? (Clutching at straws now methinks!)
