Now that I am finally getting a girp on PR and doing well. I am wondering how long you experts think google will continue to remain a free search engine and how long google will feed aol and Yahoo and how long will PR rule the way google shows it's results.

I'm hoping at least 5 years more :0)

PR does not rule the way Google shows its results. It is one of about 100 variables that Google includes in its algo. Just check the innumerable posts that start "How come their PR 4 site beats my PR 6 site?".

"It is one of about 100 variables"

Actually isn't it one of about 8 variables?

Anyways I guess my question is how long will PR be measured the way it is and have such a high impact (35% IMO)?

I've oft wondered why we all place such importance on pr. I think a lot of it is that pr is the only variable in the equation that you can always work on. Lets face it, if your important keyphrase is fantasy widgets, once you've titled your page Fantasy widgets, you're done with that 10%. Once you've set your h1 and h2 properly, you're done with that. Once you've created compelling keyword rich content, you're done with that. All of these things may take a little tweaking but there is a finite amount to be done. Not so with pr. You are never done trying to get your pr up because its all you can do once your site's design is really done. And you know your competitors feel the same way.
This is for the content you have already created. You can also always add more content.
