Now I know getting your keywords into the anchor text of links is important for Google...just want to clarify something.
If your important keyword is Blue Widget then the ideal situation would be to have Blue Widget as the anchor text in links.
But say the anchor text was "Blue Widget Shop".
Is that significantly worse than having just Blue Widget when "Blue Widget" is your important keyword.....or does it not make any difference cause Blue Widget is still in the anchor text?
If it does make a difference...how significant do you think it is? I have a situation where it makes more sense for people who decide to link to me to put my anchor text as "Blue Widget Shop" when i'm really trying to increase my rankings for Blue Widget. (This is due to the company name).
If it dosen't make any difference then i don't have to hassle them too much about having just "blue widget" and not "Blue Widget Shop" as the anchor text. Cause most of them automaticaly put Blue Widget shop as the anchor.
Thanks in advance for your help
It will still help for Blue Widget, but slightly less than if you dropped the shop.
On the other hand you gain much more for "Blue widget shop" which could be a good term, as users searching for a shop definitely look to spend some money...
