New site - Poor Google SERP

I setup a new site recently, <snip>, and it launched in the middle of february. Initially, I knew I had to wait a while before google would index the site so I used adwords, overture to gain some traffic and business. After the google dance, I was upset to see how my site ranked. Not only did the homepage not show up for '<snip>' or '<snip>' but the two links that did show up aren't even on the first page for a pretty direct term. I've followed along and did my best to optimize the site, maybe some of you pros can take a quick look at the site and offer some advice.

If site launched mid-feb, than you "probably" missed the deep crawl for the end-feb/early-march update.

the result you may be seeing could be everflux/freshbot results.

furthermore even the top SEOs round here give at least 2 updates to see some quality results.

so in answer to your question.

NO, google serp isnt bad, you were just expecting a bit too much from it.

rest assured, i am sure you are building content and getting all the quality/relevant links you can in the meanwhile.

Good luck and welcome to webmasterworld.

Welcome to Webmaster World. I'm pretty new here myself. If you read a lot of the posts, you can learn pretty quickly here.

As the TOS don't allow listing the URL's or keywords, I can't take a look at your site. But perhaps some of the classic posts will help you see what you're doing wrong. The ones I'll list have helped me and are often referred to.

If your on-page stuff is good, you may just need to work at getting more links to help out your PageRank. But chances are, if you're several pages down and the keywords aren't all that competitive, there's some on-page stuff to work on ... hope these links help.

mid-february .. sounds like it was a bit too late to make it in for the last update. back links won't show up so soon either. give it a couple months. hopefully too you'll see your site property listed by the next update (end of this month?)
