Help!

I have managed to get my site listed in the dmoz regional directory (http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/New_York/Localities/C/Cutchogue/)

but I have not seen my site listed in Google's regional directory for the town that it was submitted to?

I can get a good google search return if enter "www.mysitename.com" as the term. But no other time will it show.

I undestand Google does not want multiple submissions of your site or they could bump you out completely.

Should i resubmit?

Resubmit to whom - google? Nope! Wait until the next google directory update / rdf dump update. Meanwhile work on getting other links.

Marino,

Since when is your site listed in DMOZ? If it is only a month or less, just wait.

If you are the site there accepted two days ago then you'll appear in the Google directory around the end of next month.

You can't submit to the Google directory and you are in DMOZ so there is nowhere to resubmit to.

Thanks steveb, takagi, Yidaki for your replies!

I am definitely on a learning curve here, and the next
Site submission experience should be less hellish.

Yidaki - i will definitely get other sites that will link
this site and have 3 links purchased and should be visible this week.

takagi - the site has been only 3 weeks since submissions were fired to the ODP's and spiders. MSN shows my site very well ranked strangely enough.

steveb - thanks, does Google use dmoz for its search results?

excellent forum...
thanks to all!

> does Google use dmoz for its search results?

Google uses the information from all the pages it has spidered, including DMOZ pages. But it doesn't tread the information on DMOZ in another way, except for using it to make their own 'Google Directory'.

It is the 'Google Directory' that is handled differently. In the SERP there is an extra line, for your page. Some (but few) people use searching directory instead of searching web.
