Panic Time or what?

Ok! I did what everyone suggested and waited a few days, fours days to be exact. Our five clients sites are still nowhere to be found in the Google index. This all happened the day the dance started. Mind you that all of these sites were in the Top 10 (two were #1 for different terms obviously) for very competitve terms (1- 2 millions results). When you enter their urls into the search box it says: Sorry, no information is available for the URL ***********.com & if you enter the urls directly into the browser the PageRank shows no PR NOT 0/10 but no PR BUT it still shows the backward links for all the sites. What has happened? How do we find out if they have been banned or not. PLEASE HELP me, my clients are going to kill me!

How do we find out? We have never before been penalized before and don't believe that we have done ANY that would deserved to be penalized. These clients off ours are in a related industry so, we link them but is it.

There's prob no help if you can't tell the tactics you undertook. Did you do anything dodgy? Just browse the google webmasters faq and answer their questions. If you can say no to all of them, there must be some others reason for your problem. However, in 99% of all cases a penalty isn't a real penalty. Could be a DB error (at google), a server error (at your site), or any other of dozens of possible reasons.

I too am seeing some of my sites without a PR at all that were doing fine, not all of them but a handful. Those sites had unique content in itself, two pages on each of the sites were materials allowed for us to be copied. I don't think it's an IP address issue with the whole IP being banned because not all of them are. Still trying to figure it out ;)

I've had some sites drop dramatically with no changes made. Seems like Google can't keep their hands off their ranking software.

I've noticed that now more than in the past it seems necessary to update your site if the terms you're going after are even moderately competitive. Seems that google is really wacking stale sites. In the past, I've been able to leave relatively obscure brochure sites alone, but now they're getting bumped by sites much less relevant that are more actively changed, like newspaper sites that happen to mention my phrase.
