For the love of god, how do we know when our PR showing is our PR? I have two new sites with fluctuating PR and showing some times as high as 9. I know that is impossible but at what point do I take the PR as Fact or Fiction?

Give it a couple of days, certainly this update, the toolbar pagerank has fantastic fluctuations.

My sites have settled down now, is anyone else still seeing the PR moving around?

I'm still trying to figure out how one of my sites made it to PR 8/10, then again it was already 7/10 last time. Just the jump to 8 seemed so nice, under 2000 links to the site, but 350 more than what it had with PR7. A few more edu's but the PR's wernt higher than 7, which is what had prior to the update.

To make a long story short I am not seeing fluctuation with my sites right now -- they are keeping their ranking and placement currently.

I'm still seeing some serious fluctuations in serps too.

Would the toolbar rank fluctuations explain a site that fell from PR6 to PR5 on the homepage (although it keeps flicking back and forth), while several important internal pages steadily maintain PR5? Would it be likely for these pages to rank as high as the home page when the update settles?

One of the servers still has last month's results. This is normal, it's a huge task to migrate all those data while running the world's most popular search engine at the same time.

cutiger, the Toolbar sometimes shows the last URL you visited when you go to a brand new URL with no PageRank calculated yet.

ciml,
I noticed that with the toolbar. How do you get a "fresh" reading than?

Seems like my sites have settled down now also. No fluctations observed today. Improved PR for 70% of our sites. Traffic is increasing. :)

If you want to be sure to get PageRank from a server with the new index, you need to find an IP address corresponding to a datacentre that already has the index and set the DNS for toolbarqueries.google.com to it. In Windows, the 'hosts' file does this, if you run named locally then the files are normally /etc/named.conf and /var/named/whatever

If you're worried about the PageRank showing the last visited URL, then run a link: search on the URL you want to check. If it's shows backlinks then the PageRank is genuine, otherwise if the URL shows PR4 or more then it's probably false.
