Hello,

First off, I have learned a lot here so far, and I appreciate everyone taking the time to help each other out. My website has a medium-sized affilate program. The problem is that I can't seem to get a plain vanilla link to our homepage in Google -- it's always through an affiliate link (usually a funny redirect). This means that not only do we lose affiliate fees on sales through Google with that link, but also the listing says "My Company, affiliate.com?redirect" instead of "My Company, myurl.com".

I tried making sure every page has a link to the homepage to encourage Googlebot to notice it, but looking at my logs I don't think that's working. Advice would be most welcome!

I'm not sure I understand the situation. If you are getting listed as an affiliate link, then that is going to be the most popular url (highest pr) for the site. If the link is invalid, then why not put a redirect on it with a 30x move perm header to redirect to the homepage? Google will see that...

boudicca,

What you need to do is have your affiliates link to a special page just for them. This page should disallow robots.
