I have been looking and researching and hope I have come up with a good formula for optimizing for Google. Can anyone tell me if this is good or what (and where, specifically, if bad). It looks to me that the second page (not the index page) is more important.
Index Page
1) Key word/phrase in domain
2) Key word/phrase (on it's own - no other text) as title
3) Key word/phrase once in good description with themed words around it
4) Key word/phrase (on it's own - no other text) as H1
5) Key word/phrase as .jpg name and within alt=
6) Key word/phrase in one URL
7) Key word/phrase once in link text
8) Key word/phrase in e-mail address
9) Key word/phrase starting initial text
10) Key word/phrase ending text.
11) Copyright Key word/phrase (in different color, italics and bold).
12) Associated / themed words wherever you can.
Keyword density of what you see in the browser = 4%
Keyword density of what is in the raw html = 4%
Second Page
1) Key word/phrase in sub domain or page name
2) Key word/phrase with some extra related words as title
3) Key word/phrase repeated once in good description with themed words around it
4) Key word/phrase to match title
Same as above BUT with more URL's and Link text containing Key word/phrase.
Keyword densities of 7% and 5% respectively.
keyword density is an on page factor, much less important than off-page factors. Make the page so good others will link to it. If it smells optimised that might stop others from linking towards you.

Yes, I know get people linking to me. But what about doing the most I can keyword density wise? Does anyone have some input regarding html?
:-)
A couple of quick comments:
Do everything you can to reduce "code clutter" in your source code (use CSS, external .js files, etc.) SEs seem to like lean, clean code, and your visitors will appreciate faster-loading pages.
Think "accessibility". The tags that help your page make good sense to someone accessing it with an audible browser reader can also provide tasty spider food.
