Why does a page show above the optimized page?

need help with ranking issues

Hi I need help...

I dont under stand why does my site page in google (keyphrase: keyword1 keyword2 keyword3) which is not optimized ranked (5) higher than which is optimzied.

Please look at the two listing of [example.com...] on number 5 and 6 rank.. please give ur comments.

Why does this page which is on rank 5 is above the other one?

Hmmm, not sure but do you know of any "important sites" linking directly to that news article page?

That could be a factor.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld

You will find quite shortly that your post will be edited as specific mentions of pages/results are not allowed in most cases.

That said if I am looking at your question correctly, the first listing of that particular site is where it is because the title matches the query more closely. The three word query can be found exactly and in a phrase format as opposed to the nested result of the second page (main url homepage) where the words appear but not in the correct places.

Also having more words as you do in your top level page wil have a diluting affect on the title, in that the more words you use the less weighting each word will have.

There could also be differences in inbound anchor text to each page

I agree with ukgimp. The higher ranking is due to the exact phrase matching in the title. Further proof of the importance of the title eh?

But why does the 3rd listing (please see for same keyword) for the same keyword is beating my page...whts the reason...?
