Doesn't Google like numeric/single character links?

Googlebot doesn't seem to spider them...

I have several instances on my site where pages are just linked to by a one-character numeric link, e.g. in my message boards ([page]1,2,3,...) Somehow Google doesn't like to spider these pages, and it's not because of session IDs (I've removed them for spiders).

Has anybody else noticed this, or is my observation simply wrong and I need to find a different explanation?

Thanks!

I've not noticed it. G seems to be walking through here ok.

Maybe I'm just misinterpreting the symptoms, but Google spiders all fresh topics in my forums nicely... until they move to the second page. It seems that Google then can't find a backlink anymore and drops them again.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback, I'll keep on racking my brain - maybe I'll find a different explanation...

You've done this, but, double check list:

- Double check the link and page structure and make sure it is spiderable. There could be something there that is different about the page 2+ links.

- Double check that you have as many insite links as possible. Depending on the software, there should be many ways to feed the gbot some quality links given your setup.

- Try to have atleast two links to every page (even the multi-paged pages) such as forums. eg:make sure that when it goes to page 2 or 3+, that the link back to page 1 and page 2, are the same as it is from your index page or the start page. Try to keep them all the same without exception.

that's all I can think of.

Um, not sure what you mean here. Set up some additional links pointing deeper into the board, e.g. like you are doing via the forum headlines on your main page?

Insite linking page-to-page. Try to have two links pointing at each and every page. That gives double redundancy of links for Gbot to find.
Link pages a,b,c together:

a->b
a->c
b->a
b->c
c->a
c->b

You may not want the reciprocal a->b and b->a links, but the general idea is have two links within the site to each page some how.

Ok, I'll look into that. Thanks for the help! :)
