I have seen more and more links such as this below counting in backlinks:

http://www.mysite.com/cgi-bin/redirect.cgi?site=http://www.redirected_site.com

Obviously Google is able to see the link as pointing towards redirected_site.com. Links like this never show up in backlings.......

http://www.mysite.com/cgi-bin/redirect.cgi?site=if980kladf098

So is using a cgi or whatever redirect where the entire URL of the redirected site is in the link URL the way to go for tracking clicks AND passing on PR?

Is the PR passed dilluted by having the cgi redirect?

Well, it sounds like you have it mostly figured. First, Gbot will follow just about anything in any text that passes through it's system that starts with "http". So, the redirect could be just reading the http. Ever try, redirect.cgi?url=mydomain/thispageis404.cgi? You bet it gets followed, but how much pr is passed? The entire amount - many feel it is as though it were a stock link.

Hi,
I do have access to my cgi bin but am just now learning about it. How do I do what you're talking about here. I gather that
[mysite.com...]
is what I use for the link. What do I put in the cgi bin that I will be able to track later?
