I am glad you mentioned this....
I feel it is happening now :-(
One of my biggest Content campaigns has been butchered in the last month....
September Stats
110,000 CLICKS 0.10% CTR $0.45 AVG CPC 2.8 AVG POS.
October Stats (Nothing Changed)
55,000 CLICKS 0.10% CTR $0.59 AVG CPC 4.7 AVG POS.
Look at the position change...
Again, no changes on my end.....

"In the next few days, we will be making two changes to how AdWords evaluates landing page quality. First, we'll begin incorporating landing page quality into the Quality Score for your contextually-targeted ads, using the same evaluation process as we do for search. Advertisers who may be providing a poor experience on their site will notice that their traffic across the content network decreases as a result of this change. Second, we're improving our algorithm for evaluating landing page quality and incorporating landing page content retrieved by the AdWords system."

Weren't they supposed to be doing this already? So many people was fine tuing their h1's and putting up privacy policies, and Google didn't even bother with the content.
I think with the new content QS addition, they mean they will start evaluating a website's theme and general tone and see if it matches with a keyword. Whereas before it was a site's general structure.
Though I am still quite unclear whether google looked at CTR/QS for the content network before and used it for discounting etc. I am quite clear on 'smart pricing' on content but not the benefits of having good CTRs. And hardly get satisfactory answers from support anymore. Maybe someone here can enlighten me. Thanks in advance.
Is there anyone who can confirm that this is due (or likely to be due) to the landing page being considered for content?
My site stat counter took a nose dive. Little green arrows turned to red. I haven't seen another green one since yesterday :(
Green is above 7 day average for the hour and red means below avg.
Tuesdays are always green all day.
At least i don't have to worry about getting clicks from all those best x sites anymore. Hopefully the fake search engines are knocked out too.
Will my landing page quality affect my ad's position?
Not for Google search. While one's landing page quality is directly correlated with the minimum bid required for one's ads to run, it does not affect your ads position (or 'rank', as it is often referred to) at all. However, since there is no minimum bid requirement for contextually-targeted ads, low quality landing pages will result in the need to bid higher to compete in the auction, which could also impact your position on pages in the network.
For over two years we have maintained several thousand clicks a day on the content network with very good conversion rates. Our landing page is excellent and very content driven.....
today we have had 51 clicks so far.
I called my Google rep and he confirmed the new changes today....discussed a few things but what it really boils down to is "Your screwed" and I can't do anything about it.....and we don't care how long you have been with us.
We have changed one thing..... our landing page would go to index3.htm ..... on index3.htm we had a redirect screipt that would dose some tracking for us and take them to a page called p.htm
Im wondering if their "Quality bot" didn't like the re-diret script. I changed it today but my rep says it takes two weeks for the bot to come back.....sure hope that isn't true.
Interesting thing though.....I asked if these pages were still beeing checked by a real human.... the answer...."We used to do that at the beginnig and now it is 100% bot"
After 3 1/2 years and hundreds and hundreds of thousands of doing this....this is the first day we have LOST money playing this game.
heyday
P.S. I'll bet anyone that there is an "Emergency Maintenence" this weekend to hopefuly fix this mess.
