Every year for 7 years I have been doing this the 1st-5th stink across most of my network. It is party time for most of us :)

Would anyone be interested if I set up a site that showed a collation worlwide holidays for the major world countries.

There are several already available, just Google "earth calendar" and you'll find a good one.

There, that got round posting a link:-))

Mine too down about 40% although the CTR and Page Impressions are same as before. Strange! At first i thought this is due to 4th July's longer weekend but after reading few from here i suspect Google has started taking more share then before. But they might not. :confused

golden 14, there are already several sites doing this.

In any case, holidays can vary even within a country and other factors like the weather can play a big part in how much traffic a site gets. And weather can vary across a country too. The factors are numerous.

I see spikes in traffic for certain sites during holidays, other sites where traffic peaks Monday to Friday (when people are surfing from work) and so on.

July 4th happened to be my best day for clickthroughs and traffic (although not quite earnings unfortunately) since starting with adsense.

Thanks Joeking, typed it in haste with surfing first (tricky at work). Bizarrely 4th July was also one of my best ever days.

Actually what would be good if google generated a daily map of usage / adsence clicks based on a benchmark of 1 at a certian date to protect their data.

Then we could just compare our experiences to a mass and see immediatly if we are all the same.

interesting idea netchicken, but because there is a huge variety of sites, the feature you mentioned wouldn't be as informative as you thought. my sites have had lower earnings since the beginning of the holiday, and i think it is largely due to many advertisers who paused their campaigns.

perhaps the all-accounts result over the holidays would be .95, but some individual sites would be .75 and others would be 1.2

i don't see what you would do with the info. if your trends followed the overall trend then you would feel relieved, but if it went the other way, which is highly possible, then you would be dismayed.

other than it being interesting, what would you do with this info? would you optimize more, or give up on sites faster? i don't see how it would really benefit you or google or the advertisers.

It's 3:23 pm now and still not a single update for today.

Starting to get worried. Emailed google adsense support but haven't heard from them.

Edit:

Okay, my face is properly red :-0

The date range got stuck....it has been going to each day automatically without me changing it...but not this time LOL.

Traffic down but earnings up from May and June (still down from April though).

My earnings over the last few months have faded to near oblivion. I am slowly moving sites away from Adsense and trying different approaches on each one. A year ago (maybe a year and a half, dont remember), Adsense was a wonderful source of income for my sites. That time has long since gone. I expect to have completely moved away from Adsense by the end of this year, as I find what works better for each site.

I still get nicely targetted ads. I still have the same level of traffic. I still have the same CTR. The only thing that has changed (drastically) has been the EPC. I assume it is due to "smart pricing". Whatever it is, it has become essentially a dead fish for me.

dazzlindonna, same feeling here. Very annoyed with this type of changes by Google, but i think they have PRO-AdWords policies as they are their source of income. (;-) though we too contribute a small amount to their income by participating in their AdSense program but does Google care this?! - NO)

July 4 -- Record day for one of my sites.
July 5 -- Beat the July 4 record.

I hope this is the beginning of a trend! :-)

This compensates for my other site having been trashed by the Bourbon Update! :-(

Strange! Mine is still going down; site is up since five years now. No change in content. It’s now 50% lesser earning per day compares to last month. If your one site had a highest earning in this duration, can I request you to PM me the link of the site for my review?
Thanks

July has started off for me completely in line with June, which was my best month ever. I was surprised by this, considering the holiday weekend, and pleased....

EPC somewhat down from a year ago, but CTR has quadrupled, so I'm well ahead.

July has really went up for me: visitors, clicks, and MONEY! Looking forward to this check I can tell you!

Average daily income went up to better than double last months...whooohoo!

Probably won't last but while it does....Va va voom

Income way up, traffic about the same, keyword targeting getting much better! Therefore clicks are going through the roof! Go Google Bucks!

Man, everytime I see one of these threads about earnings tanking I think my day has gotta be coming...

but it isn't here yet, thankfully.

It used to be like that for me. For two years that was the case, steady earnings, each month an improvement from the previous. But, my earnings at this point (started May 5) are 1/4 of what they were a couple of months ago and just keep getting worse.

The worse part about it is that I've played the game honestly and am being punished for it. I never thought I'd be saying this, because I've always been a staunch supporter of Google, but I can't wait for Yahoo's program to launch. I can't imagine them treating their publishers worse than Google has recently.

Yes, I don't usually comment in these threads, but my earnings are also down, yet traffic accross all sites is up. I would guess there has been an adjustment. Fortunately, I don't depend on Adsense, and if it continues to sink, I'll just take the next good thing that comes along, like Yahoo's new program.

My daily average earnings for the first five days of July are up 31 percent compared to my average daily take for all of June, mainly due to increased EPC, which is up 33 percent. Impressions are down slightly but CTR is up slightly.

Ann, which country are you from? i have few doubts that Google might have changed its sharing ratio on Country of AdSense publisher [Geographical Algo implemented in sharing too ;-) ], but this might be an assumption only.

July is starting out just pathetic! I had such a great last week in June I was hoping that it would carry over. I really don't know how these earnings can swing so wildly! As an example and totally hypothetical...one day I will be at $200 in a day and then, $75.00 the next.

When I first started with AdSense (March 2005), I saw this web page that had a months worth of earnings listed from a site advertising a "earn more from AdSense" book. It had all of the daily earnings listed on this page and in each day's business was about a 2% fluctuation in earnings. Yeah right! Does anyone else see a consistant earnings amount?

i have surprisingly stable earnings. i have several sites that cover a broad array of topics, so they seem to even out. i still have weekly fluctuations, ie. weekends slower than weekdays etc. but when i compare one monday to the next or one saturday to the next, the results are very predictable.

i did experience a slowdown over the long weekend, but i am back to normal now.

i am sure that one factor is the size of your account. if you have a relatively small site that targets one niche, then a single advertiser that pauses a campaign for a weekend would have a dramatic effect on your earnings. or if an advertiser overbids for a campaign and lets it run for awhile, you can have big spikes in earnings. as your site grows and broadens, these peaks and valleys flatten by cancelling eachother out.
