AdSense Earnings and Observations - May 2024

It seems like my traffic is fluctuating wildly from day to day. It’s almost as if Google is regulating the search engine traffic to my website.

They are all over the place, I used to make $40 a day for years, now $1-$2 a day for a full month, few days ago $30 a day, yesterday $16.

They don't know what they are doing in my opinion, and they changed way too many things at once and now it cannot be debugged properly, meaning ...

european compliance prompts, switch from CPC to CPM, chrome blocking 3rd party cookies, imagine what a mess can this cause when there are hundreeds of 3rd party ad providers each having scripts on many of their domains. Imagine junior coders trying to fix/debug code that were coded by others years ago without this problem in mind.

When you complete 1 you get 0.1 point once you have 50 points you get a cup with Adsense written inside 🤣
But seriously I remember a time where for Xmas we received gifts

Anyone see any improvement lately as far as earnings?

Towards the end of April things got slightly better for me, but back in the dumps the first 3 days of May.

I seen a bit of improvements.
From around 18 march it dropped to around just 5% (!) of my ~normal earnings.
And now in last few days I make around 30-40% of previous steady earnings.
So I am still low but it climbed back a bit towards normal.

It feels like AdSense is now more sensitive to lower quality traffic countries, it recovered a bit from a 95% drop only after I fully removed AdSense from my top site that has over 10 000 uniques a day from India, then overall account CPM recovered, I added ads back there, it paid good for 1-2 days then went down to 30-40% of my long term normal earnings.

20++ years ago, I was chasing Google's tail. At my peak, Adsense was my main income.
Then they changed the Search Algorithm and my sites and earnings tanked. Family suffered for almost 2 years,
Left it all and went back to my first love - graphic design.
One year ago, I came back to Adsense. This time, Adsense is just a side hustle on my website to promote my online stores.
Although I never expected anything much, Adsense grew to roughly $20 per day.... enough to put a smile on my face.
Then end of 2023, earnings started declining. January 2024, earnings tanked (or so I thought at $3 a day)
This month, I am earning 20 cents a day. LOL.
Thank God this time round, I remember my motto - Google Will Bite You .

For some websites quite high RPM (3 dig) but the rest is awful linked to SEO massacre

Based on members here, AdSense is favoring higher quality/traffic sites. The network is dying and so are Ads. It's a reality I hope everyone will come to terms with. Starting website AdSense isnt for the faint of heart today.

Tried to figure out which industries but realised it s random (not for google).
I think there is now chinese wall more between SEO and Adsense
And AI content is playing a role.

Hands down the worst year for Adsense.

While earnings were based on CPC, my CPC was about $0.35, since it changed to RPM, my RPM earnings are equivalent to $0.17 CPC, so there is a dramatic difference.

For the same amount of clicks, I would be earning less then half of earnings, add to the fact that SERP changes have killed most of my traffic from Google, it's a disaster.

hate those as well, specially because it's them who are causing the lower earnings and not anything I'm doing.

In the meanwhile their profits are getting higher...

my overall portfolio was down but single websites are doing very well and I m trying to find out why
Post Scriptum: revenues where catching up around 11 pm

The downhill trend is real after the march core update.
AdSense in May is my lowest earnings per day in the last 10 years.

Funny how just at the end of last year, I was making at least $100 a day. I’ll be lucky to see $20 these days lol.

Guys it is not only adsense problem but many factors are causing lost revenue, like really many, CMPs, CPC->CPMs, consents implementation, consents bounce rate, cookieless sandbox testing, and most important economy which is crashing, and last but not least seasonality, just look at the ad revenue index:

It never was this bad economically, just try to hodl these times
