Hi,

This is odd, today so far, my adsense earnings is in my upper range (which is already something suspect these days :) ), but, exclusively from the USA, not a single cents from other countries. This is very strange, usually, in the first half of the day, I have incomes from European countries showing.

Then again, the CPC is absolute crap, so it doesn't add up to anything significant.

Except increased ad-blindness and more ad-blockers.

Over the last week daily earnings are trending down but the month overall is up 52%. If today was the 30th I would still be a happy camper. As we get closer to the "back to school" season I expect to see things back off quite a bit for me. Just hoping that the levels stay well above last year.

If you think about it logically, any company that is advertising through AdSense needs to make more money than they are spending. So I suppose you may think a website that gets loads of hits and clicks on shows very appealing ads may earn a lot of money. However, you may get only 1p per click so even 100 clicks is only going to earn you £1. I imagine that a company that is paying 60p for each click on one of their ads will want to make sure that those ads are only showing on websites that are more likely to to result in a sale for them.

I also see other news that Google had been fined £2 billion. Not sure if that's got anything to do with us, but it will certainly make them think twice about trying to fix things.

Adwords' advertisers can choose to show their ads in Google's search results and Google's partner's search results or on the display network, which is our websites. Generally, at least in my experience, placing ads on the display network - which is often used for branding purposes more than for actual traffic - is cheaper than on the search network. CTRs are also lower.

As more and more websites join the display network, it means advertisers pay less to show their ads on it. Which means fewer clicks for us and less per click (although still 68%). Advertisers can see which sites convert for them and which do not. If a site isn't converting, they can disable their ads on it. So having traffic that converts for advertisers is all that really matters.

Since joining adsense today I got highest ever traffic. Highest ever clicks but lowest CPM, RPM. Only Download ads are displayed on site. With CPC of less than a cent :(

Either adword team is not looking at matter or its intentional.

The revenue for link units is not displayed under Publisher in Google Analytics?

@kindle44 unfortunately not. it's a shame when I am trying to figure out roi of my paid traffic sources when I can see only revenue from ad units but not from link units that are often about 50% of my entire revenue so we can only estimate I guess

Yes, It's really a shame. I've only just started using responsive link units after someone mentioned them here. In just two weeks, they have really out-performed all other ad units, so much so that I've used them to replace some of the other ads which actually slow your web pages.

Link units are great because they present ads that really match a site's niche well. I love them!

You can set up link units as custom channels and then you are able to see how they perform in your Adsense reports.

@ember sure, but you can't track them in GA. and it's the only way to see how they perform with different traffic sources and specific articles

That's actually the main reason why I don't like them: they're simple text links that don't look like ads, and I don't think users expect to get ads when they click on them.

@Robzilla they're clearly marked "Ad choices" and are in button format. I think it's clear they're ads.

Am getting a lot of fake clicks from an ad network called Nuviad. I've blocked them, but does Google vett these networks?

I think you'd be surprised. It's clear to us, sure, but have you ever seen non-web-savy people use the SERPs? AdWords ads are labeled as such, but most just click the first link if it's relevant and say they never even noticed it was an ad when I ask them about it. Anyway, that's just my conviction; same goes for the Media.net ads.

@Robzilla, I couldn't agree more about non-web savvy people using the Internet. I've actually mentioned this myself on more than one occasion because I watched my mother using Google. Ask yourself a question, how many times do you click on AdSense when you visit somebody else's website? I bet the answer is almost never. However, people who may not be on the Internet as much as we are will often randomly just click on the links willy-nilly.

I watched my mother, she will type something into Google and then click the very first link at the top which is normally a load of rubbish because somebody has paid a lot of money to be at the very top. I always tell her to look before clicking because normally what you're looking for is not right at the top.

The same happens when she goes to somebody's website. If there are lots of ads then she will click on them. I'll bet you that most of the money we earn comes from people who are clicking on ads not really knowing what they are.

I have watched people :) and they do click on the first couple of results most of the time.Which just happens to be AdWords with a tiny little "Ad" that in the same color as the URL. Most folks don't even realize they are clicking on Google's advertising.

Now there are four Ads on top of some search results. Followed by snippets, answer block, map and anthing else they can stuff in there to push down organic results.

I made more money from GumGum yesterday than I made from AdSense.

I made more money from Fuze360 yesterday than I made from AdSense.

Ridiculous!

I think it depends on the site. Not everyone uses borderless text ads and blends them in with body text.

I was wondering why my stats looked so grim. So me too. Maybe they are putting the ad-balance back in service! (You can't blame a guy for dreamin')

Looks like things are back to normal. And guess what?.... still no Ad-balancer.
