June 2017 AdSense Earnings & Observations

Hi,

This is odd, today so far, my adsense earnings is in my upper range (which is already something suspect these days :) ), but, exclusively from the USA, not a single cents from other countries. This is very strange, usually, in the first half of the day, I have incomes from European countries showing.

My stats starting to look more normal but still about 100 bucks behind what Im normally at. But this is a common thing I have seen. When there are time when the stats are stuck big time like this, I end up earning way less on that day even when the earnings come back to normal. However the next day I then earn above average, like it evens it out. So we will see, but right now still behind on earnings but it appears to be working.

Sillysoft, I am also down about $100 what I should be at this time, but I've never paid attention to whether that day ends up lower than normal and then the day after higher.

The stats do seem to be moving, but when I compare to my DFP, it is definitely not all there.

I might have spoken too soon, I just saw a big jump of almost $50 in the last 10 minutes.

What a strange day.

PVs ended up average, actual clicks well below average, EPC and earnings well above average and not least that 94.6% of the earnings were from the USA which has been struggling like crazy recently to generate any reasonable earnings.

After the frozen stats issue that faced many if not most Adsense users yesterday, my RPM dropped today around 20% comparing to the last few days, just like the frozen stats issue yesterday appeared after Adsense activated 'shave mode' !

Anyone else having a similar sudden drop ?

Seems like it's going pretty well to me. I've gotten to where I check Analytics rather than the AdSense console, because the Analytics numbers tend to stick. It's more work (specially with multiple sites) but I think I get a better picture.

i wish google would sort out the targeting. do you remember the days when the ads actually matched the content? and we could wrap those tags around our words to target them even better?

I've got three ads on the page and all I'm seeing for the first one is a big green 'download' button. I've found all the matching ads in the panel and blocked them, blocked the advertiser domains as well... complete waste of time. a day later they're still all over the website.
the other two ads on the page are identical. exactly the same ad in both spaces.

they can't possibly be interest-based because I don't do Brazilian dancing.

@londrum Does the adsense tags not work anymore? I still use them on my sites, the google_ad_section tag to help them weight the content of that page. But are they a waste of time now?

@child please So did your adsense earnings go up today? As expected, mine did as it has done in the past the day after a major stoppage occurred with Adsense. Its like the money missed yesterday was tacked on today.

@londrum Well would make sense as using those tags I too get that big green download button. I will leave it there though, sounds like it wont matter either way.

Sillysoft, those tags are deprecated. I remember reading something about Google's technology not needing this kind of webmaster assistance anymore.

Ah... my old enemy - Green Download Buttons!

A few years ago they were creating 10 new accounts and domains/day! It was like the weed after the rain!
They were serving adware (read malware) and it was a multi-million business. (see Download Valley [en.wikipedia.org]

After Google policy change, we have only 2-3 domains/month and they are serving mainly browser extensions (to steal and redirect traffic).

@sillysoft, my earnings seemed pretty normal day-to-day...despite the stuck stats, it rebounded to a level that I would expect on a Wednesday and then Thursday was also nothing out of the ordinary.

@KingMaker first off, welcome to webmasterworld.

It is fine to talk in terms of percentages or ratios, but be aware that publicly disclosing your sites performance is against Adsense T&C's. Technically you are not doing that since you are not disclosing the site but I would not take the chance regardless.

If Google's engineers would just get the ad balancer working again, junk ads would be less of a problem. (I'm pining for the good old days of April, when the ad balancer was working fine.)

@EditorialGuy - Agreed. I thought it was going to be up sooner than this. I feel like I'm missing out on revenue as that real estate could be put to better use than Vinegar Drinks Before Bed dieting ads. Ended up blocking a bunch of categories / networks / ads until things pick up again - or the Ad Balancer gets up and running again.

@kingmaker seems that you do quite well, congratulations. If you don't mind answering a quick question I would be very grateful. Firstly, does most of your traffic come from mobile or desktop? Secondly, what is your best performing ad unit? Is it responsive or fixed, and whereabouts on the page is it located?
