@ avalon37

I have exactly the same experience like you. When I say my site has suffered a huge drop in CTR, it also works out like that....

During the morning, the CTR is similar to my old site (before converting to responsive). There is hardly any difference, as it should be. But as the day goes on, the clicks just fail to come through and at the end of the day I am looking at a sub 1% CTR. It is as bad as 0.10% sometimes. Traffic is UP, but clicks are at their worst, ever.

All of you who experience CTR drops should go back, and analyze, and see if this is also your experience.

The problem lies with Google, not me.... I am very sure of this now.

For me, it's a neverending nightmare, with the lowest CPC by far.

Quite bad today. Wow. I hope it's just a delay.

CPC is terrible today. About half of what it was yesterday, which itself was half of what I sometimes used to get...

Am I dreaming, are we having a click bot attack? My US RPM is 250% its average after 3 lower days. This is an all time record breaking Sunday for me. I'm gonna buy myself a cool brewski and look at these numbers for a while.

Hmm. One channel received three clicks in the last hour that earned me $33 in total. Was expecting 1-2 to be shaved but all three were wound back, and I somehow ended up with less than I had before. If three clicks is a click bomb then Kim Kardashian is a philosopher.

A very ho-hum day for me, started off well, but as I have noticed, the clicks stopped coming in, during the last half-quarter of the day. This is a definite pattern I am seeing a lot nowadays, which leads me to be very certain that all is not right on Google's side.

Either they are really discounting clicks en masse to try to retain advertisers, after a certain "threshold" is met, or turning off the decent and quality ads after a certain while, leaving publishers high and dry. And it seems this is extra prevalent on Responsive ads.

1. Very smart bot attack, from different IPs, different user-agent, low crawl rate, so my automatic bot detection was useless.

2. As I suspected, adsense is imploding :(

Got my second biggest site redesigned two weeks ago to test if my earnings will improved. For the first few days, it made some gains most likely due to new ad placements. But now that my visitors are familiar to the site, revenue went flat again. This gives me the realization that no amount of redesign or ad placements will make your revenue to go up. It really depends on the traffic. If the majority of your traffic don't come from search, then you're doomed. But what i don't understand is this site used to be an authority with daily page views of at least 100k, now it's less than half of that.

@jbayabas Just wait for the day that ALL of your search traffic vanishes (yes, I mean all of it). I've seen it happen. Like someone turned off the tap.

Isn't that nice of Google, they have given me five out of five for revenue optimisation, it would be even nicer if they would give me more money, instead of a pittance I'm getting at the moment

Would it make any difference if I promoted my Google + page over my Facebook page? It could be my imagination, but it seems that my adsense earnings drop when I post to Facebook.

Earnings from last weekend are off by about 40% compared to last year. YouTube revenue is also way down.

I've started to experiment with media.net ads. That seems to have resulted in better organic search results. The media.net interface is interesting. It shows real time traffic on the earnings page.

All good here, so far I am already over the entire May of last year.
Today, I see very well strong numbers as well as some nice adds. Morning was just a bit slow but everything has changed by mid afternoon with US clicks over £0.70

@netmeg, I think we are both in UK, curious to to see how is your day today so far?

It doesn't matter to me however I'm surprised you don't know where netmeg is based.

Anyway, what a cracking effort from Google, 2 clicks from Saudi Arabia, CPC 0.00, RPM 0.14 Earnings 0.00 ...AWESOME!

Yep, today is off to a impossibly bad start. Must be more tinkering going on with Google.

netmeg is about 50 miles southwest of Detroit (i.e. the US), and doing quite well, thank you. My peak season starts this coming weekend, and we've already got a good head start on it. My dev has done some pretty amazing magic with speeding up the sites using Google Tag Manager, such that we're scoring 95 on desktop and 90 on mobile. Waiting for the host to stress test a couple sites, and then bing bang boom. Heavy on the boom.

@netmeg, does GTM work with AdSense too?

netmeg

9:39 pm on May 18, 2015 (gmt 0)

WebmasterWorld Senior Member 10+ Year Member Top Contributors Of The Month

That's not really the right question - it doesn't serve ads, but for example I serve one piece of the AdSense code (that only has to appear once) via GTM.

AlexB77

The reason I asked in the first place is that I have seen some really interesting implementation of the AdSense code on, if I recall correctly about.com or some of their subs. What was interesting in particular that they only had to load it once to serve 3 ads per page as if you are only loading one add block. If you happen to know this technique or if you have come across something similar or if GWT does it for you? These are the questions that I am trying to find answers for. My site in general and all pages I have are 98 on desktops and 95 on mobile, all this with 3 + 1 or some with 2 + 1 adds per page, but I am sure I can make it all even more faster.

GWT is not the same as GTM (Google Tag Manager) About.com is no doubt a premium partner and has access to tools and policies the rest of us don't.

Wow. Yesterday day was about as DEAD as I've seen. Today appear equally as DEAD. I mean when it flops for me, it really flops. I really wonder what happens on weekdays for me regarding ads displayed or other funny stuff going on behind the scenes. It's like 95% of my sites went offline yesterday and today.

Just got a huge click dump. I think click dumps are starting to happen more frequently. The pattern of terrible day 1 followed by incredible day 2 just cannot be ignored - it's happening more and more. Daily earnings have become even less accurate.

@avalon37 I see the same pattern, for years i had stable daily earnings but since two month i have days of -50% and +50%.
