First, let me say a great big THANKS to Netmeg and IncrediBILL.

Hello to those of you who I've never met but I consider friends. It's good to be back in the Internet world,

For those reading this, I used to be a "regular" on Webmaster World.

I've spent a year dead, or at least very close to it.

I hope to write some things everyone will find useful as far as preparing for your death.

And I'm writing this on the AdSense board, I am a "former" Publisher who hasn't been paid in a year and has great difficulty contacting someone with AdSense.

It's good to be back.

I hope you take seriously what I write and prepare for what might happen to you any moment now.

Whist I agree that it may attract attention, would it encourage users to click?

Deliberate speling mistakes seem to work well:-)

Farmboy: welcome back, many are not so lucky (our beloved tedster who we lost while you were gone). I hear ya on writing down passwords etc, I'm over 50 and am a ticking time bomb myself and have often thought about losing it all to a stroke or heart attack. Unfortunately the antics of Google have not lowered my blood pressure any. I guess the lesson to learn is "don't pet the sweaty things".

Anyone want to discuss colors?

Here in much of the U.S. it's Friday afternoon, it's cold, and to warm our toes, anyone want to discuss a very o-l-d topic?

When you pick color schemes for your AdSense ads,

(1) Which is your favorite?

(2) Which works best?

(3) How often do you use the old "default" option?

Farmboy: welcome back, ...

Thanks samwest. Sometimes I think I should write a book about what I've learned over the past two years. But I don't want to bore anyone.

Maybe I could write online and infest the pages with those AdSense ads?

@Farmboy - I would highly encourage you to write the book. As a hack writer myself, I'm into several projects at once. There' no business like the publishing business.

Regarding adsense colors...
When I used adsense, my favorite color was "default" which was basically black & white. Since I've stopped using Adsense tho, my ecom conversions have improved and my site regen time dropped to less than half.
I used them for over a decade, but in the end the newly gamed Adsense and Adwords programs just didn't work for me.

Anyone paid attention to stats before and after a change into/out of (U.S.) daylight savings time? Have you noticed people spending less time on their computer when daylight gets longer.

Most of my events are outdoors and most of my users are on phones, so it just goes up.

AdSense competitor for fa__book and tw__er .

I heard this morning about a site that is taking traffic from those two and is sharing revenue at about 90%. I understand it is growing rapidly.

I don't want to put the website name on here unless a WW person gives permission, but it's a short dotcom domain.

Anyone have experience with it?

Speaking of use of mobile phones and getting your information/news from facebook, etc, how many people know who is:

1. Bruce Jenner and why is he in the news lately?
2. Who is Gruber and why was he in the news lately?

Yes, I like it and that's all I'm using for new ad units. Performance-wise it's not really much different that I've noticed. From the user's perspective it puts the right size ad in every time which is a win in my book.

As I convert all of my sites to be responsive, I will convert every one of my ads to be responsive. OK, I may inline a 300x250 here and there... or at least experiment between the 300x250 and a responsive ad when inside the main content of an article page.

@FarmBoy

Mate can we try and start new questions in a new thread?

This one is now becoming quite dated and unwieldy.

Thanks for responding Swanny007.

I like what I see so far and I'm moving towards this "new" size.

IanCP,

Noted. I'll remember to start a new thread when a question/topic arises.
