Since Sept, things have progressively dropped. A big downward slide to no end. If it weren't for YouTube earnings in October, I wouldn't even have made the payment threshold! Things are down over 5x's what I was making up until August, and that wasn't impressive. I'm just puzzled, and if this downward spiral continues, goodbye adsense! I'll have no choice.
Wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing a dramatic drop in cpc past few days? I saw it, my marketing guy says its due to lac of advertisers, but thats too big of a drop across all my main websites and it hurts big time! My CPC went up though, which is ok, but for websites like mine earning $6K/mo and growing each month, it hurts big time on the CPC side of things...
Please share if anyone else has experienced this, so I don't feel alone lol
I had a drop in CPC and CTR on Sept 19, then in the beginning of Oct, and the CPC keeps on decreasing steadily. So my drop was not in the past few days, but compared to what it was, it is now about 30% of what it was 2 months ago.
[rant]GOOGLE, LET ME REMOVE THE DAMN "Your earnings were 95% below our forecast" ALERT FROM MY FACE! I DON'T NEED YOU TO TELL ME HOW BAD THINGS ARE! I CAN SEE THE NUMBERS WITHOUT YOU RUBBING SALT IN MY WOUNDS![/rant]
jpenn - yeah I have not even tried to ask google as they are totally worthless with their responses. I think this might have something to do with the updates on how they treat clicks - it can't just drop out of nowhere. So could be they updated their algo to "filter better" and now we have what we have ...
November has been showing some high and some lows, overall the result seems quite average, not as good as in the past but can't complain. Yesterday was good!
But... Adsense has become boring to me. Creating content is fun, trying to improve Adsense income is not. Suddeenly trying this and that for so long ended up being "who knows", as discussed before, it behaves in strange ways, there is no cause and effect or so it seems. I check my earnings and while is not beer money, it's just random numbers that are not enough to motivate me... It was fun, then it was sad, then... almost don't care anymore, this is good, I will focus more on creating more content than the one that's already there to post.
I've been in AdSense since its inception. I run squeaky clean white hat business sites.
I've gone from USD 10K per month and so far this month USD 200 ... My EPCs from USA/UK are still good however their image grab has KILLED my traffic and, therefore, my earnings AND Google's cut percentage.
Meanwhile my realworld business makes Google look effing stupid ... I finalised an order today for USD millions that tendering started in 2009, several of the other potential suppliers have since gone out of business, and they were huge suppliers!
For me, Google has gotten so many things wrong, especially so with realworld business, they are like kids with toys, they want it now, no matter the cost, now, they are so fubard it's unreal.
Why do they try and dictate to realworld businesses that things should be done the "G" way they have NO effing clue what they are doing?
Honestly, I would like to take several of these "dome heads" into my realworld processing scenario and see their faces when confronted by the REALITY of production!
Sorry to hear it netmeg. You're one of the last AdSense success stories left on this board. When you start reporting bad news, that's probably not a good sign for the rest of us. Hope it's just a blip!
November has actually been pretty good for me. Traffic grew by 58% in the past month thanks to tons of new content. CPC and CTR are up drastically after changing up how my ads are displayed. I now have 2 728x90 banners, same color scheme as my site, 1 at the top and one midway down along with a 336x280 at the bottom. Google's scorecard is complaining about revenue optimization, but my numbers jumped nearly 400% from where they should be when i did that, so i don't care.
Also, interest based ads have been a cash cow as of late.
