October was quite a ride. What will this month bring? Who will give thanks, and who will feel like a Turkey?

Not every entity takes Veterans Day off.

> D E A D all day!
Been dead since Nov 5 here, and lousy all month by any measure. AdSense today is just a shadow of what it once was. Next stop, sunset.

I never thought I'd see the day when India out-clicks and out-earns every other country and I'm not talking high value EPCs, regular Indian 10-20 cent clicks.
I feel the next 8 weeks are going to be a disaster in my niche.

Since Sept, things have progressively dropped. A big downward slide to no end. If it weren't for YouTube earnings in October, I wouldn't even have made the payment threshold! Things are down over 5x's what I was making up until August, and that wasn't impressive. I'm just puzzled, and if this downward spiral continues, goodbye adsense! I'll have no choice.

Been a while since i've posted here..
Wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing a dramatic drop in cpc past few days? I saw it, my marketing guy says its due to lac of advertisers, but thats too big of a drop across all my main websites and it hurts big time! My CPC went up though, which is ok, but for websites like mine earning $6K/mo and growing each month, it hurts big time on the CPC side of things...
Please share if anyone else has experienced this, so I don't feel alone lol

I had a drop in CPC and CTR on Sept 19, then in the beginning of Oct, and the CPC keeps on decreasing steadily. So my drop was not in the past few days, but compared to what it was, it is now about 30% of what it was 2 months ago.

Absolutely same pattern here. Whole november great and rising and then on 8th/9th -> great drop. Traffic is about 10% lower than week ago but I think that is due to veterans day. Long weekend ...
1:15 pm on Nov 11, 2013 (gmt 0)
Data loss on Sunday for me on my biggest site, the stats were way out of sync with my own logs. That's the second time in the last few days that this has happened but not to the same site.

Ouch.. you'd think there would be a nice push with online retailers and black friday just around the corner

Yet another dismal day.
[rant]GOOGLE, LET ME REMOVE THE DAMN "Your earnings were 95% below our forecast" ALERT FROM MY FACE! I DON'T NEED YOU TO TELL ME HOW BAD THINGS ARE! I CAN SEE THE NUMBERS WITHOUT YOU RUBBING SALT IN MY WOUNDS![/rant]

In the AdSense panel discussion thing I've been advocating for a "dismiss" option on certain notifications. There's no reason NOT to have one, geezopete.
6:03 pm on Nov 11, 2013 (gmt 0)
YouTube earnings yet? Not for me. Last month they came in around this time.
7:35 pm on Nov 11, 2013 (gmt 0)
Om my AdSense home page I'm seeing "opt out feedback" button so maybe dismiss is going to be an option. (I have beta homepage)

YouTube earnings added today!

Extremely low today for me.

I have a huge drop in eCPM in the last 2 days!

having a renaissance with Adsense this year. Been on board since July '03 and five of my top 15 months ever have been this year.
Added lots of content and never micro-managed a damn thing.
I get very good CPC and CTR rate from tablets and smartphones and their contribution is going up and up.
4:46 am on Nov 14, 2013 (gmt 0)
Bad earning here also this month! Low CTR and low CPC. Just not understanding adsense anymore as a few years ago it used to be so steady.
Im using media net with adsense this week but its not showing anything promising. I hate to say this but as much as adsense is disapointing anymore it still seems to be the best option.
Must be flaky advertisers.

Ordinarygal - I've experienced a very similar thing. Gradual decrease from beginning of October and then a huge drop in late October to leave me at a third of what I was earning previously.
Have you contacted Google?
I asked what was going on and I've been told that Google believes there was invalid activity on my account - e.g. lots of accidental clicks but state they can't divulge specific details.
I've removed one of my in-content ads which I believe had the highest chance of getting invalid clicks but my CPC has not yet returned to what it was.
Very difficult to get proper answers from Google!

Earnings have been good this month and last, though I find the stats are taking an age to update today for some reason :(
2:58 pm on Nov 14, 2013 (gmt 0)
jpenn - yeah I have not even tried to ask google as they are totally worthless with their responses. I think this might have something to do with the updates on how they treat clicks - it can't just drop out of nowhere. So could be they updated their algo to "filter better" and now we have what we have ...

Pretty bad month here, but I'm having at least two severe bot issues at the moment. Had to remove AdSense altogether in some spots.

November has been showing some high and some lows, overall the result seems quite average, not as good as in the past but can't complain. Yesterday was good!
But... Adsense has become boring to me. Creating content is fun, trying to improve Adsense income is not. Suddeenly trying this and that for so long ended up being "who knows", as discussed before, it behaves in strange ways, there is no cause and effect or so it seems. I check my earnings and while is not beer money, it's just random numbers that are not enough to motivate me... It was fun, then it was sad, then... almost don't care anymore, this is good, I will focus more on creating more content than the one that's already there to post.

I've been in AdSense since its inception. I run squeaky clean white hat business sites.
I've gone from USD 10K per month and so far this month USD 200 ... My EPCs from USA/UK are still good however their image grab has KILLED my traffic and, therefore, my earnings AND Google's cut percentage.
Meanwhile my realworld business makes Google look effing stupid ... I finalised an order today for USD millions that tendering started in 2009, several of the other potential suppliers have since gone out of business, and they were huge suppliers!
For me, Google has gotten so many things wrong, especially so with realworld business, they are like kids with toys, they want it now, no matter the cost, now, they are so fubard it's unreal.
Why do they try and dictate to realworld businesses that things should be done the "G" way they have NO effing clue what they are doing?
Honestly, I would like to take several of these "dome heads" into my realworld processing scenario and see their faces when confronted by the REALITY of production!

Good month so far.

> Pretty bad month here
Sorry to hear it netmeg. You're one of the last AdSense success stories left on this board. When you start reporting bad news, that's probably not a good sign for the rest of us. Hope it's just a blip!

Well November is always my lowest month. I need to start a tradition of Thanksgiving Fireworks.
6:12 pm on Nov 15, 2013 (gmt 0)
November has actually been pretty good for me. Traffic grew by 58% in the past month thanks to tons of new content. CPC and CTR are up drastically after changing up how my ads are displayed. I now have 2 728x90 banners, same color scheme as my site, 1 at the top and one midway down along with a 336x280 at the bottom. Google's scorecard is complaining about revenue optimization, but my numbers jumped nearly 400% from where they should be when i did that, so i don't care.
Also, interest based ads have been a cash cow as of late.

@Netmeg...have you ever considered adding Christmas Lights displays to your sites? Seems like everyone is always trying to find cool ones to go look at...just a thought.
