I've been using Adsense from the beginning, and I appreciate what it has given me. Before Adsense, monetizing my sites was a lot of work and not all that lucrative. Today I earn a good living and am my own boss. Are there risks? Yes. But there are risks with having a job, too.
So, thank you, Adsense. It's been a fun ride, and I hope it continues for another 10 years.

In 2004 I considered a 5% CTR rather low.

The glory days are well over. Need to wait 3 months before getting a cheque now, that's how pathetic the earnings have become. The best traffic for AdSense is search engine traffic and if your rankings are affected by all these zoo animals, your earnings will naturally plummet. Building new sites is a thing of the past now. Sometimes I say to myself why I didn't profit much more during the glory days. Heck maybe I did my best being a one man show.

Ermmm, have you seen Google's quarterly reports lately? Their revenue from online ads is not only at record highs it's growing dramatically every quarter.

Google is not evil. Google is Google. It promised no one a living.
No, but it promised to "Do no evil", and then did the complete opposite.

Wow. Didn't realise adsense was only one year old when I joined.

10 years for me too. I will point out that CTR's in some of those earlier years were so much higher than now. Most people I know hate the look of adsense text ads, so maybe time for something new.
Thanks Adsense for consistent no-stress payouts month after month.

I lost mine last year after about 7 years with no clue why, but realistically I work for an agency so any future projects I'll just try to sell inventory to an ad network or to friends working on the client side. Adsense was convenient when it lasted.

I slapped Adsense on my hobby site 9 years ago. I can take my wife out for a great dinner 4 times a year on what I make. That's good enough for me considering that I have ignored the site for many years.
