Adsense misery continues - December 3, 2009

I was hoping December would bring a bit of a turn around but over the last couple of months our adsense income continues to slide. From what I can tell the CTR is still the issue down at least 40% people just don't respond to the ads which means they have a serving issue or an inventory issue. Take your pick. The dramatic nature of the drop suggests to me its inventory.

I'm wondering if this decrease in CTR will clear out many arbitrage folks. I stopped advertising 1st week of December and am happy to not have to deal with it or worry about it anymore.

I've stopped looking over my shoulder and opening google email with one eye closed.

Since removing some "excess" adsense code on a few of our pages it looks like earnings and traffic is now on the improve. Less is more as they say, we can only hope it carries forward into January.
