I'll make you a deal: if you all, the members of the AdSense WebmasterWorld forum, can agree on your top 5 asks in order of priority, I will personally email the Director of Product Management for all AdSense products with your list.
So lets get it started.
So I have reports like
"new tech sites"
"old tech sites"
"english sites"
"german site"
And when all 4 reports are open in tabs of the browser,
it's sometimes hard to know on what report I am just looking.
A title with the report name
and somewhere a headline what report is shown just right now would be great.
The bad news is that you'll probably be hearing from me a little less for the next couple of weeks. The good news is that I'll be able to bring you guys tons of insights into the way advertisers see the Content Network and how you can leverage that to maximize the value you bring to them. I wish I could tell you more about exactly what I'm doing, but the specifics are confidential.
And now for the status report I promised on one of your requests. Let’s talk about channels. We’ve known it was a top request for a while, and inclusion in your Top 5 list certainly clarified that. We’ve been experimenting with more channels for a small set of publishers. Thanks in large part to your feedback, we’re trying to extend this test to more publishers, especially those who we know are already using channels most heavily. The reason we can’t just roll this out to everyone is that we need to make sure that our ad serving and reporting continues to run smoothly.
On a side note, I notice that your top 5 includes a lot of frontend changes. We’re working on a lot of great stuff for you on that end, but there's a lot more to AdSense than our frontend. I recently got a chance to sit down and talk to a few of the engineers who work on the team responsible for a lot of the AdSense backend infrastructure. There’s a ton that goes into delivering the ads to your pages quickly and correctly. The fact that you didn’t have to include things on your list like “load the ads faster” means that our backend engineers are doing a spectacular job. :)

Here's one that's been bothering me and it happens to be non-cosmetic (although cosmetic issues can be annoying and need need urgent action while trivial to fix!)
The 'allowed sites' is limited to only 100 entries
And we're supposed to keep feeding it every Google cctld and IPs that is out there, how come?
Why in the world are you not giving us a box to tick to include all Google IPs and Google domains?

Exactly why I don't use the feature, at first I thought it was just incompetence and would be eventually fixed. But the persistence of this leads me to believe that this omission allows Google to steal honest earnings from the non-allowed sites. I know you're not stupid but I'm not so sure about your honesty and it is this among other things that leads me to feel this way.

The good news is that I'll be able to bring you guys tons of insights into the way advertisers see the Content Network
I've suspected for the last few years that Advertisers think the content network sux. It's that simple.
Hence the reason many of us have seen the vast decline in recent years.
The principal reason we all whinge and whine. We no longer cut the mustard! Of course there are always exceptions.
I can't believe this thread has gone as long as it has.
I've been eating, sleeping, and breathing the stuff I'm working on.
ASA, make sure the stuff you work on has enough fiber ;)

Looking forward to this. Personally I wasn't in the "want more channels" group, but I was in the "let us know if our sites convert" one. I think it would help us help advertisers to know how we are doing in that aspect. Getting the odd smart pricing slap on the head without any extra info isn't very productive, especially when we don't even know if it's smart pricing or the economy.
Well, keep up the good work, and for sure, keep Adsense fast and nibble. Can't have ads slow down page loading now, can we :P
Adsense could do away with the concept of channels and simply provide us with the webpage permalink from where the click happened. Knowing precisely which page the click happened, isn't this what the publishers need to know..This way, we can also remove the ever-growing demand for the increase in teh number of channels (last heard, its been increased to 500 for some users!)
- ad open in new window
- allow us to directly sell ads from our website.. perhaps by using an api?
- Let us control what minimum cpc ads will display on our website
You really need to take a look at Google ad manager. It's all there.
[google.com...]
(basic setup only takes about 15 minutes or so, why don't you give it a try)
Welcome nailarubab,
Patience and building unique content your visitors will love is about the only reasonable advise I can give you. Oh, and you'll need a lot of patience (did I mention that?)
Back to our 5 requests now.

Wouldn't it be great if the ads could be configured by the publisher for width, so they could fit in with any design perfectly? If you make it wider, it may show less ads, or shows those ads normally hidden behind the arrows.
Potentially...
I could have an ad box that was 534x200 if I wanted it configured that way.
I like to keep my pages short, easy on the visitor, not long and drawn out with a tiny scroll bars.
1 :
The ability to use the old code. This could be done via a tick box or something on setup.
This could also include adverts opening up in a new window. [Yes, I know you can via Ad Manager, but that program needs a huge overhall before I reuse it. And it only works with the new code].
Managing colors etc is far easier with the old style code.
2 :
A weekly/monthly report of all the adverts that appeared on the site. This can be a list of links (that open up in a new window) and can filter out any unwanted adverts.
2a :
A weekly/monthly report of all the adverts that were clicked on. But I do understand if this is not possible due to possible fraud etc.
3 :
New advert sizes. Either what MsHuggys' suggested, or just have some new sizes.
4 :
A box - on set up page - where I can add a keyword and then state the niche.
For example...
I set up a channel for page, give it a name etc.
Enter polo as a keyword.
Then a dropdown box will give me the option to choose either, polo shirts, polo sweets, polo sport, Marco Polo etc.
5 :
Quicker to see results from changes made. It can take many hours for a site to be blocked/unblocked.
6 :
Make the bot read any PICS-Label the page may have. If a site is child friendly, I really do not want to see adverts for Rampant Rabbits just because the page mentions rabbit. Or adverts for Homosexual sites because it mentions "hairy bears". This is not on, and gives my site a bad image.
7 :
The ability to turn on and off Site Targeting via the setup page, and not have to keep writing to google staff.
8 :
Somewhere to enter my pub number and see a list of sites that are using it. (I have found a few sites by putting my pub number into google, but only because they copied my content incorrectly and the code appeared as text on screen).
My top 5 requests for enhancements are:
1. Show % cut of Google like TribalFusion
2. Allow site banning per website. A publisher may have sites in different segment. What is competition for one segment, may be welcome in another.
3. More responsive AdSense representative. This may be my personal experience but she rarely responds, even to urgent queries these days. Are your reps overworked?
4. Allow minimum CPC on a site basis. Expected CPC isn't the same for different verticals and so there is no reason to have one common CPC.
5. Allow publishers to accept advertisers on a per site basis and let them know what they are offering. This gives more power to publishers in rejecting the people who bid real low to get people on their own AdSense laden site.
Bonus request: The only thing I learned from my AdSense rep is that I need to experiment. Maybe its me, but I was expecting a bit more substantial knowledge I could use :)
What do you think?
The only thing I learned from my AdSense rep is that I need to experiment
How about Google doing the experimenting for us:
Google can (after our enabling that option for a channel) run different color combinations once in a while and assess which generated the best performance for that channel, then a report could be sent to publishers proposing they make that change permanent including in that report metrics such as ctr and ecpm %'age improvement, a win-win feature for Google and publishers if done right. And to preserve a site's look and feel the experimenting could be confined among a set of Color Palettes that a publisher can define for that channel.
I'm finding more and more sites designed for greater than 1024 screen width.

I think #2 and #4 would open Google up to so much abuse we'll be unlikely to ever see those features.
