Any general tips apart from 'content is king'? Are you going for long tail?

I made about $2000 in October from other sources, but AdSense is definitely the creme de la creme.
I stopped adding new articles and started a fight against the content thieves (I complained about this is July 2007). It has paid off...
It's always good to hear of someone having success fighting the thieves. Do you think this has contributed to your increased AdSense income somehow?

Farmboy, yes. Started with Adsense in June 2005. Crossed the $3000.00 mark in Oct 2007, but couldn't get to $4000.00, no matter how hard I worked. By then many people have copied my entire site, usually without making any changes whatsoever. I really don't mind if somebody copies one or two articles, but that's too much… When I hit $1800.00 I found one person who has already copied half of my site on five or six of his sites. That's when I declared war -- it took 2 days to have his sites removed and another 2 weeks to have all the other copy-cat sites removed. Traffic slowly picked up…. According to Alexa my site's traffic rank is now close to 100,000.
I have only 1 site but 4 different page layouts. The one I choose for an article depends on the length of the article, images etc.
Just wondering...do you use a content management system?
I don't - and I truly believe that contributes to my site's success. What about you?

I can confirm the same. My CTR and eCMP increased after shutting down few websites. Sometime it is easy to get rid of bad guys, but few times it takes lots of time and effort.

Am I right assuming that your 4000 don't come from Google AdSense (at least not exclusively)?
All $4300+ is from Adsense only and $450 of the total is from one page only. It is the first page where I put Adsense on in June 2005, as a test. If I had put it on any other page I would probably not be posting here today.
You've just alerted me to something though - I guess I wasn't paying attention in class again, but it looks like someone has been copying my pages, almost without changing a thing.
How does one go about getting this removed? (sorry if this is a bit off topic but it looks as if you folk have some real experience in this area)
Then contact the copy-cat (if you can find an address for him or her), give him a few days to remove and if he doesn't then contact his service provider.
Do yourself a favor and study the copyright laws. I had to when somebody infringed the copyright of my company's product. Received $215,000+ in damages, plus monthly royalties for as long they operate. The law is on your side but must know it.

Wow, I'm impressed. Since 2005, I have built two extensive websites full with useful and unique content; they attract some 1500 visits a day, which will probably increase in the next months to over 2000. I make a fraction of you with google adsense and have thought about other means to commercialise them. I get a feeling that there is something that I do fundamentally wrong.
May I ask how many visitors your attract or what your CTR is?
i believe that the more content you have, more you are gonna make with adsense, but the income will not increase according to the traffic.
