The Direct Marketing Association has a free "Privacy Policy Generator" that's worth a look.

Thank you EFV! Over the last 8 years I never ever thought that my small collection of information sites would require such a page. That made it super easy to generate and modify to fit my situation.

"should i then be concerned about Duplicate Content as well ? using this generic privacy content text?"
You can create an image on Photoshop with all the text (transparent or white with bold letters in black color), I guess that won't be a problem.

Just got an OK from Google on my Privacy Policy on my web site. Evidently I am within the TOS.

Just so you know what is acceptable to Google for the state of Calif. In the USA.

ArtistMike - Just where on your site have you put the policy?

Where is the term "web beacons" in your PP? If they specifically asked that the term be included, why would they approve your PP?

Next will probably be a requirement that all AdSense sites are a minimum of HTML 4.01 transitional and compliant with handicap accessibility so brace for impact...

Or even worse, mandated interbrowser compatibility.

efv mentioned a generator link from the DMA, I think it's fine to link to

[the-dma.org...]

I don't really think adding a privacy policy is a huge issue, I don't like how they are going about it but it is a requirement in most places.

I found it interesting that they were lifting restrictions on where ads could be placed

looks like the only restrictions are pr0n, hate, violent or illegal content, seems error pages, chat pages, reg or thank you pages and maybe even emails are OK. You don't even have to have content on pages that contain a referral button.

guess they need more impressions from no content pages

======================

It is on a page by itself, that is linked to the main "hub" page of my site. I don't have a link to that page on every page on my site. It is only found by a link on the "HUB" page on my site.

===================

I think there was the phrase "and/or" ... so that means I can choose to use or not use the phrase "web beacons"... because of the word "or".

Why don't we all just link to ArtistMike's privacy policy? :)

Yep, that hasn't received much attention in this thread. I took advantage of one of the changes and I'm already having good results.

Let me put it this way - does it mean that in the future when I click on an Adsense ad, I will be tracked by web beacons? So the analogy of clicking on Adsense ads versus clicking and opening an email worm isn't too insane, is it?

With the new tracking technologies who knows what tomorrow's "web beacon" (or "web steak") could do to violate the user's privacy. And you, as the website owner, are supposed to be responsible for that.

ArtistMike, do we have to link the privacy policy page from every page on our site ?

This can become very tedious .. :(

ArtistMike

I did not. I linked from a main "hub" page on my site... a page that leads to all the other areas of my site. That is where I put the link to the PP page.
