Anyone notice that the new "Adsense units" don't have the individual adchanel codes in them any longer?

Now there is a new line of code...

New AdSense accounts can not generate AdSense code with classic channels anymore.
ASA, I'm very disappointed with google (not the first time) – complete disregard to backward compatibility issues that other developers might have with your "improvement". Very unprofessional.

When is this going to be rolled out to everyone? I'm going to have to change the ads in one whole section and would just as well try the new system.

Did they just halt the roll out until the bugs are sorted out? ASA do you have any idea when all of us will have this new function?

"New AdSense account" means an AdSense account opened 3 days ego.

Maybe generate ad code now and save it to your hard drive, just in case you don't care for the new system.

Maybe use someone elses code from the web and just change the pub id, channels and color settings etc.

Hmm... forcing publishers to roll new code totally by hand from previously saved examples. Not what the big G had in mind with this new enhancement, is it?

When you're setting up code for a new ad and get to the page asking for a unit name, the following text is provided:

AdSense unit name:
Choose a name for this AdSense unit, so you can change its settings later. This name will appear in your code, but you can remove it if needed. Learn more...

When I click on "Learn more" I end up on a page telling me the information is not available. Anyone have the instructions for removing the name from the code without violating the TOS?

One additional note: I created a new ad using the same name as with a previous ad and AdSense allowed it, so now I have 2 ads with the same name. I don't know what that would impact, but I wanted to make others aware just FWIW.

one thing that i would really love to have is the ability to change the font-size and font-family.
because then we can really begin to blend it with our content.

obviously they can't give us free reign, because we could completely bugger up the appearance. but surely they could work in a little lee-way - say, a choice of three or four font-sizes, and three or four of the most popular fonts.
even if they just gave us a choice between arial and verdana it would be a bonus.

Good Idea. I think I'll put together something with no border and no color. White with black text, maybe some dark gray. Then it will work for about anything.

If I use the same add it won't take too long to slap it into around 50 pages. The old ads were a color that just won't work.

Since I don't have anything automated it will be good to have the new system once the bugs are worked out.

OK, this has happened each time i try and go from 2 ads to 3 ads per page

when i have 2 ads, they show no problems at all,

when i insert another ad somewhere on the page, the new ones shows, but now one of the other original 2, gets a "PAGE NOT FOUND ERROR"

i've waited 30 mins just in case, but i still the same error showing up

as you could imagine, this looks pretty amateur stuff on my site! anyone have same issues?

Solution for black/white box instead of advertisements :
I had only one black box instead of Ads. I mailed Google and answer was : use only one color (I used mutiple color palettes). "We hope to solve the problem soon.."
I changed it to one color palette, and now ads are showing.
I hope they solve these technical problems soon...

I think they stopped rolling it out until they can correct a few glitches.

I'm waiting too as I am redoing one of my sites and this would be a handy time to convert to it.

Quite a while since this thread was last updated. Is roll-out of Managed Ads still on hold? I don't have it on my account yet. Anyone else get it lately?

Is there any official word on this, ASA?

I've been watching for it too. I was hoping it would be available by now so we wouldn't have to redo my site with the old instead of the new.

Since it looks like it won't happen I just designed the ads in a really neutral color scheme so they will still look OK if I change things with my css.

They're rolling again! I just got Managed Ads added to my account.

Under the "Adsense Setup" tab, there are two new sub-selections, "Get Ads" and "Manage Ads", and the one that used to be ad setup (forget what it was labeled) goes away.

My adsense unit links are not showing anymore or just 1 or 2 links when there were 5 just 2 days ago!

Does anyone has the same problem?

I put an ad link unit up last night. At first it just showed one ad topic then later it showed all 4. This morning it's back to one.

I think I'll proceed cautiously.

I have a question for those of you who have had these new ads up for a while. How long does it take for ads to show consistently?

I know it isn't a lack of ads. I've always had plenty of related ads showing with the old ones.

I tested it and the ads shows after 5 minutes. I thought at first there is something wrong with the code.

I am running the new managed ads on one of my sites now. The info in the ad code now consists of:

1. Ad slot number
2. Ad title comment
3. Publisher ID
4. Ad width
5. Ad height

I am wondering, if everything is now controlled by the ad setup on Google's servers, why does the code we put on our site need to include anything besides the Ad Slot Number? Why do we still need to be specifying the width, height, and especially, our Publisher ID?
