Several have commented on a possible SmartPricing/CPM glitch/change here: [webmasterworld.com...]

ASA seems to be implying that no glitch exists. But, given that multiple people are are reporting a similar, and substantial, CPM decrease, SOMETHING is going on. How is your CPM this week as compared to last month? If down, does it vary across channels, or it is evenly down?

My main site's typical epc stats/day have returned to pre-glitch levels. They've held steady now for several days. Which makes me wonder if the glitch for channels data also corrupted the earnings data. Google claimed it didn't but I'm not convinced. Funny how the channels glitch gets fixed and the earnings jump back up around the same time.

I don't understand, how is it G's fault if your clicks are down?

Crappy, irrelevant ads perhaps?

Possible, as we all know the preview tool is useless, my UK and European ads seem fine with relevant steadily rotating changes however I have no idea what's happening in North and South America.

I saw my ads recently in India and they were...most unusual, never seen any of them before however they did seem relevant.

My trade directory site seems to have been affected more than any other site even though, believe this or not, the average daily impressions since the glitch weekend has been exactly 1 page impression less combined with a lower EPC it has resulted in this site's earnings being halved which is quite considerable to say the very least!

Yesterday its CTR, and today, have increased from its lows however the EPC is till miserable:-(

Earnings yesterday were lower that the lowest day in October. So much for hoping the eCPM drop was linked to the glitch. I don't know what to think at this stage.

Stats for November 1st-7th 2007 compared with same period last year:
No. of clicks: +25%
Earnings: -14%

I see no recovery from this downward slide now for my site. I'm disappointed that it is failing but to be honest I got a bit comfortable and now look forward to the point where I can remove AdSense from my site. Adding it to my New Year's Resolutions list.

I don't know what to say anymore, I've been back and forth on whether or not this is a glitch, but so far this morning I am running at 100%! This is the first time in nearly 20 days straight so I hardly know what to make of it. Everything looks normal. Anyone else?

Yesterday was almost normal for earnings, but on further examination, one large custom channel ran an eCPM double what we'd expect (never happens) and the other large channel ran half the eCPM we'd expect (happens freequently, lately:-)

Went ahead and re-enabled some URL channels today to try to figure out what's going on.

Still very slow here.

Friday afternoon UK time.

Fingers crossed however I am seeing a dramatic increase in EPC this afternoon returning to pre-Glitch levels...

Methinks this is possibly going to be a roller-coaster of a weekend.

Sunday's CTR normal, EPC well below average, today Monday, everything back in the pan! Diabolical, not enough even to consider any beer...

Something interesting. I monitor my brother's AdSense account from time to time. Our sites operate in the same subject area. During the time I was hit in October my brother's account was untouched. I just logged in to check it and lo and behold on Nov 10th WHACK! - eCPM dropped like a stone and continues to be down. Absolutely zero changes were made to the site or account.

Welcome the new face of AdSense. Looks like this change is happening in waves. I predict more and more sites entering eCPM Hell.

Welcome the new face of AdSense.

It's looking less like a glitch and more like an algo change.

I predict "maintenance" will come again soon. I suspect there are things out of whack in Googleland that extend beyond Adsense and even Adwords. I track some view stats on YouTube and have seen those statistics go haywire in the past two weeks as well. What was once a fairly predictable pattern is now very unpredictable. It would seem to be unrelated, but the coincidence is more than a little peculiar.

Speaking of peculiar...
has anyone googled one thing , and then googled another completely different thing, and seen ads from the first search appear mixed with ads from the second search?

Yes. I googled about Forex and then went to my site that has nothing to do with Forex, and Adsense showed two ads about Forex....

That sounds like behavioural targeting right there. The cookie is put to work.

Just when I thought October was bad, someone will have to start a new thread called "November 2007 eCPM changes?".

My eCPM has been declining every day since the first of this month. Here it is on the 12th of November, and today is the WORST day I have ever seen, so far.

Come on Google, don't be so cheap with those clicks.

Although things were looking up on Mon/Tues last week, things are still down overall. Yesterday was terrible.

Well I can't even comment about eCPM any more, it has to be EPC since I have so many sites and channels therefore my observations from Today, Monday:

Core site 1 Leaderboard: EPC at the bottom of normal EPC
Core site 1 AdLinks: -20% off the bottom level of normal EPC

Core site 2 Leaderboard: +50% from the top level of normal EPC
Core site 2 AdLinks: -60% off the bottom level of normal EPC

Many .cn, co.uk, .eu, .in etc all -60% off the bottom level of normal EPC

Bizarre, totally bizarre, it's become that ridiculous I've gotten bored with their antics!

NoaHukr, I just wanted to post the same remark, Adsenseadvisor is very quiet when it comes to this topic.

ASA was probably instructed from the beginning of her job in 2004 not to comment on ecpm on here.

Having looked inside direct.rightmedia.com and inside YPN, I believe however that within 2 years Google will be forced by competition to become very explicit about their own cut, and to display much more data to the publishers.

when google beginned, i beleive their was just some coders and webers and programmers, now they opened their doors to business sharks, google was for me an example, now they are becoming more and more (yahoo)...well i hope whats hapenning with adsense now its just some bugs in the system..
