Do you know which countries have the highest ad inventory of advertisers?

"Consequently, although English is very important, people should not overestimate it. Internet takeup rates are growing quickly in non-English speaking countries. Going forward, ad inventory will likely grow at a much faster rate in languages other than English."

I disagree with this. English is seen as very important in the two biggest countries in the World and the two that will be most influencial over this century. Millions of Chinese are learning English.

When an Indian does business with a Chinaman will they be speaking in their native language?

...and the USA is still going to be important even when these two become bigger.

...and the EU is pretty much declaring English as their official language.

In our lifetime English will remain dominant.

I tend to agree that English is quite deeply ingrained. Not to mention the basic character set Europeans use.

Sometimes I have occasion to visit exclusively Russian- or Japanese- or Arabic-language websites, where I have basically no idea how the site works. But if I mouse the cursor over the various hotlinks, more often than not I can find "links.html", "contact.html", "videos.html", etc., and explore the site that way. That's how universal English has become.

Hahaha...my lovely ex-wife who is Ukrainian couldn't understand how I navigated around Russian web sites until I showed her this trick:-)

a lot of that data isn't sourced.

I agree however it's the best anyone has found yet & this site has been around for some time.

Alexa...ok most of us hate Alexa, describes it thus:

Internet usage data for 233 countries and regions, consolidated from various periodic surveys.
