How long does it last?
Affiliate bookings were less affected by the holiday, probably because they tend to occur late in the research and purchase cycle, and the person who's planning a trip to Widgetville in the next week or two has an incentive to go online and make a decision.
As for the question of "How long does it last?", that probably depends on your topic. Thanksgiving weekend lasts four days, but if your topic lends itself to Christmas gift-buying, it's conceivable that you could see a resurgence before Monday. (Then again, if you have a topic like mine you'll probably experience a lull until traffic and revenues take a big leap after Christmas or New Year's.)

Whenever U.S. government offices are closed, Web traffic plummets. The bureaucrats are not sitting at their desks killing time browsing the Web -- they're at home doing what they do best. Nothing.
I get the same thing. My busiest time is during a work day between 9 to 5. People love to use my sites to "goof off" at work. I suffer on the weekends and holidays.
There's another big one coming up soon.
Don't people budget or plan for these blips?
i wish we had a better handle on why adsense works the way that it does.
When I was a contract programmer, I never got "holiday pay" unless I actually worked on holidays.
Small business owners have to pay their employees for a day off when the business owner is not making any money. If their employees work, they have to pay them 1.5-2 times as much. It's simply a cost of doing business.
If you are sweating the fact that you are "losing money" on a holiday instead of enjoying the holiday yourself, go get a government job. Then you will be getting full pay for not working or getting paid extra for your normal amount of work.
I made about 16% of normal on Thanksgiving and if I knew what I made, it wouldn't have bothered me one little bit. I made that while I was enjoying a wonderful smoked turkey dinner at the beach watching the storms rolling in. The last time I got paid for Thanksgiving day was in 1992 when I went in to work on that day.
I don't sweat the earnings of any specific day. Google doesn't pay me by the day, they pay me once a month. Take what you earn this month and divide by 30, and that is what you earned on Thanksgiving.
People are having a holiday and the AdSense crowd wonders why, instead of spending time with family or out shopping for presents, that people aren't home strapped into their chairs clicking on your websites.

BigDave, nobody's sweating it. ;) It's educational to see how deep the dip goes, as well as to note how it doesn't affect some. What's wrong with that? It's a valid topic for discussion.

Bill, nobody's wondering where everyone is at. Where in this thread did you read that? Who in this thread is wondering why their stats are down?
We all know there's a holiday but it's interesting and educational to see that the dip isn't widespread, and most importantly, to take note how DEEP the dip goes. Worthwhile discussion in my book.
I initially started this post to see if my adsense stats realise the overall scheme of things over this USA holiday period.
If anything I might see a little up side on holidays when families gather and get to recalling the past. This holiday has followed that pattern.
But am an Australian therefore we do not celebrate Thanksgiving so some of are working.
If you think this is bad, brace for Xmas and the days after when the Canadians have "Boxing Day"
The dive from US Thanksgiving will not resolve until monday, likely.

Got one and am in the middle of a 4 day weekend. Not sweating any of what AdSense does, it's just icing on my cake.
For us Aussie Boxing Day is also a public holiday.
