Duplicate payment approval?

Checked my payment reports today and it looks like there was 2 approvals, 1 week apart, for the same amount. Anyone else seeing this? No doubt Google has decided to give away free money ;)

I see it. I assume it is a mistake and they are not going to pay us twice. It could also be that they were joking about the previous approval and now this is the real one.

Perhaps they had to reapprove after we indicated if we were going to be paid as an individual or a business.

I'd also guess this means the payments haven't been sent out yet.

They don't have to send it until the 30th.

My payment control shows the same amount approved June 16th and again June 23rd. Anyone else seeing this?

Yep. Unless this is confirmation that the cheque has been sent it could be just a glitch.

I think you will find this is due to the latest changes. I would guess that those that have not fully updated their information will only see one 'payment approved' line.

so, the consensus is that checks will be mailed 2-10 days from 6/23/04 versus 6-16/04?

If so, that kinda sucks...I hate being inconvenienced by these people I have never met who give me money for doing what I was already doing anyway.

For some people it is a full-time job/career - although there are a lot of "hobby" sites - for some a cheque from Google arriving a week later is the difference between going out for a meal this week or next, for the others it just means getting their Porsche a little later. ;)

However profits were higher when Adsense started. There were less publishers then, CPC rates were higher.... *sighs*

Well you live and learn... boy do I wish I'd started a popular site on mortgages, or some other high CPC topic a few years ago now... ;) rather than one in which seems to get the lowest CPC of $0.05.

Google must be making a bundle though - despite all the overheads they incur....

I’m still scratching my head on this one. Google did not just up and decide to require certifying as a business or individual etc. They had to have that planned, so if they were going to delay payment why not just do their account compile after everyone had agreed to the new TOS etc. By the way historically this has been the most delayed approval since prior to Dec 2003. I’m not arguing Google’s right to make payment, as I have read the TOS. But I just don’t see why this happened. Hopefully they will update us soon as to what the real story is.

Right, and they'll send out a press release saying that payments to AdSense publishers doubled in June. Of course, there won't be a press release when they deduct the overpayments from July's checks. :-)

There are two things that Google is really bad at:

1. Communication. We shouldn't have to wonder why there are two payment approved listings. An email should have been already sent out to all of us explaining the situation. Google often fails to do this.

2. Design. This isn't really relevant to this thread, but it's the other thing that I've noticed Google needs desperate help with. First it was the horribly ugly PSA ads, and now the websearch.

For all the smarts in the Googleplex, the one thing they seem to lack most is common sense (business sense). Hopefully, in time, some egghead in the plex will hire a communications manager and a web design manager that can handle these things.

No, I'm sure no one is thinking they will be paid twice. But...does this mean payment is delayed? Really doesn't matter - it should just be a default action that if anything is different, we should all be sent out a quick explanatory email. Simple business procedures.
