Google is pushing Froogle hard and so keyword, brands, and other specific product searches are now leading to Froogle links in the top search results postion. Sites that used to get top of page now are shown below the Froogle links. Did you Google canon eos and see the Froogle brown shopping bag icon and links?
But does anyone correlate this to a lowering amount of URL's in Google? If I type site:www.mysite.com I used to get around 20,000 links. This week we started losing links every day, now we're down to around 13,000. I never did have that many pages, so I thought it was just a "correction" but traffic HAS been down about 1/5th all week... and that's hitting the bottom line hard.
This started off as one of our best months ever, which is good, because the end of it is around 40% drop in revenue...
If you haven't checked it out already, here's Part 3 of "Pages Dropping Out of Big Daddy Index"

Housecleaning: like what? I have about 2,500-3,000 pages (I think). Always have, its Google that's mucking up counting them?
What do you suggest?
I scanned that Big Daddy list, but I don't know how or if we're affected like this.
I will say last year, almost to the day we had a massive drop off from the Bourbon update, knocked nearly all out of the index for 3 weeks. So maybe this is just the time of year for this sort of thing. At least its not that bad this year.
I think Monday will be slow though, it seems to be holiday everywhere. I can't wait for Tuesday because normally my traffic on weekdays is around 30% more than on the weekend. I am hoping for mini surge on Tuesday. Lets see what happens.
Better get some apology notices ready to go up for when we re-surface:-)
So, not surprising. II don't have numbers for this, but my impression of my past two summers with AdSense is that weekends are down more from the weekday average than they are at other times of year.
Maybe I'll designate all holiday week-ends to MFA hunting
