Anyone know what day 16-18 year olds officialy broke or break up for the holidays?
For the UK? Not until about 14th or 21st July just depending where one lives.
Another theory is maybe everyone at school has finished and a niche which involves teens might die at summer, this is me out the boat for a few months.
Don't kids spend more time on their computers in the summer gaming etc? Well, the ones that are not hanging around the local corner shop creating a nuisance of themselves anyway:-)
Unless your niche is doing their homework for a fee?
Don't shoot me if I'm wrong!
I found that holidays were the worst of periods however Eater Sunday was amazingly better than most days for traffic... christmas was down possibly for obvious reasons, pre-christmas was amazing.
Personaly I think that a holiday can be two things for kids, a chance to sit around at home all day on My site or out playing with friends/ abroad etc.
Not really got much of a chance compared to when they are at school and must be home at around 8-10pm. (my highest peak).
Fact: My database shows a majority of all my members are UK 16-17 Teens.
Obviously very concerned we wrote to Google, assuming that as they are presumably making us much money as us from the advertisers they would show some concern. The first response was the stock "you've been smart priced one" which we brushed aside. The second was actually written by a human being and contained some interesting information: "The recent changes to advertiser pricing have affected all publishers in different ways". The implication and general tone of the email is that there has been a recent system wide change in pricing policy.
I find it astonishing that Google would make such a serious and potentially catastrophic change to their system with informing their customers. Many of their recent actions seem to demonstrate that they aren't a company that thinks things through very well. Our account is (was) worth about $90k a year to us and I assume an equivalent amount to Google. To continue our business we're going to have to go to our main advertisers directly (something we didn't want to do before, which is why we used google). We know they're willing to pay more than they are at the moment so we will probably end up making more money ourselves and google will be losing $100k a year. Not a brilliant piece of business I'd have thought.
A very interesting story to say the least! Information like this, however, would be perfect fodder for a new thread rather than attaching it here where many might not see it due to this thread's waning interest and existance.
Hope this reply bubbles it back to the top for a whilw so more can read your comments.
