I was initially rejected by google, but a few months later they sent me an email and said they had reconsidered. I've been in the program for over a month, and am happy with the results.
I know that the tos for adsense says we can't talk about how much we make, so I won't. But it can be rewarding.
BTW, have you been accepted?
Good Luck,
Goober
My site is: <snip> - Still waiting on acceptance or rejection email...
From past experience with CPC adertising I don't seem to be able to make that much money, how exactly does the amount of money get calculated? Is it a set number of cents per click?
Many thanks,
Wonder.

[edit reason] no specific please. [/edit]
I'm thinking of signing up with Adsense but need to get more content up on my site first. So I'm interested to see others' experiences.
I've been reading in here long enough to know a thing or two, though.
Good luck with it, and it seems you've got some reading to do.
I guess I can't really say what I wanted to say as I want to see how this shapes out...
What did you mean by "I've been reading in here long enough to know a thing or two, though" - Sounds interesting :)
I have now read the T and C from google, seems normal enough, didn't see the bit about not being able to talk to others about ad***** - can you point me to it please?
Thanks.
W.

They're pretty serious about it, despite how mild that sounds, according to several news stories and a lot of threads in here.
I have just signed up for this AdSense thingy, my site is new and doesn't get that many visits at the moment (3.5k views / day). Basically, I was wondering what I can expect from them in terms of raw hard cash...
As others have said, "It depends."
and do they accept any old website?
Pretty much.
hmmm.... Interesting that you can't discuss amounts earnt, why is this?
Because that's their policy, for better or worse.
Like others have said. Google will kick you out for fraudlent clicks, but most likely not for discussing adsense CTR (I have yet to come across a case). But then again, why risk it when, a little research, and learning to do advance searches can give you the answer without incurring any risk on your part.
Discussing Adsense is also against Google's TOS. You might want to give them another read, as your question indicates that you didn't know that-- you probably don't want to get kicked out so soon, but they will if you talk about it.
Rule #1 about Google AdSense : You do not talk about Google AdSense. :P
I hardly doubt he'd get kicked from AdSense by talking about it on this forum. How would they which site he hosts? Brett already snipped his URL, so how would Google go about finding which site is his?

AdSense stats are updated all day long, from every few minutes to up to several hours.
Since you haven't yet been accepted, I suspect you can get answers to all of the questions you have at this point (that don't violate the TOS) simply by reading the posts on this forum.
Adsense CTR, is fast becomming the worst kept secret on the web. However a lot of people will not discuss it because they have so much to lose.
Best advice would be to do your own research and keep the info to yourself, as lawyers are an expensive way to solve a problem that you can avoid in the first place. Let somebody elses legal firm set the precident with Google on this issue.
If I am not allowed to ask this I may as well superglue my mouth shut right now and ask for a sensor to be at my side at all times just in case I try and say something via sign language.
Yep, those Google sensors are pretty sensitive. They'll catch you every time. :-)
Look, if you don't like the terms of the program, why sign up? Find another source of revenue. Webmaster World's "Advertising Sales & Affiliate Programs" forum is a good place to start:
[webmasterworld.com...]
ok - last question - how long does it take for stats to filter through to the online reports from the time someone has visited your page?
If I am not allowed to ask this I may as well superglue my mouth shut right now and ask for a sensor to be at my side at all times just in case I try and say something via sign language.
I doubt google really care =/
I will abide by the terms and conditions, just that I didn't read I am not allowed to ask innocent questions about the program....
I will shut up now unless a rebel comes forward from the ranks =)
Reports are typically updated hourly with an occasional delay of up to 24 hours.
I doubt google really care =/
They cared enough to include it in their AdSense FAQ. Many of questions and answers can be found in the AdSense FAQ, Policies and Terms. And because you agree to comply with all three as a publisher, it is usually a good idea to give them all a good read through ;)
If you read the Google TOS carefully. It is illegal to discuss your own adsense CTR and other stats. It is not illegal to discuss adsense information that is already in the public domain. At least this is my interpretation.Adsense CTR, is fast becomming the worst kept secret on the web. However a lot of people will not discuss it because they have so much to lose.
#1, it's not ILLEGAL to discuss it, "illegal" means you can go to jail. It just violates the contract. It's not against the law to violate a contract. Contract law is civil law not criminal law.
#2, if GOOGLE had access to the IP addresses of people posting on this forum, I suppose they could track me ...
#3, all I know about AdSense is that I put it on my site three days ago and it WORKS! Much better than the affiliate links. But you need to have a site with high paying search terms. You can go to Overture and see what people are bidding on search terms, and the same people are probably bidding the same amount of money on Adwords.
#4, your clickthrough rate depends on what kind of traffic you have. Targetted temporary traffic means high click throughs. Traffic that comes back all the time, for a topic that has little commerical value, then AdWords won't do anything for you.
#5, the problem with even knowing the rate is that Google doesn't break anythign down for you. I put the adwords on two sites and on various different pages, and now I have absolutely no idea exactly where the clicks are coming from
#6, webhosting seems to pay huge money... do a site about webhosting then you can make a killing...
Surprised that hasn't happened. I believe Jenstar said it doesn't violate the forum charter, just Google's TOS.
Be nice to us WW publishers G, we've got the biggest mouths on the Internet. :)
Here is another recent thread [webmasterworld.com] discussing specific earnings, so yes, it has been discussed here before.
