Hello All,
We want to block any URLs that have the ?srsltid parameter from showing up in SERPs for our ecommerce site. I have noticed that our rankings for our non-parameterized pages have dropped and want to get it correct. I am going to set up a Disallow in my robots.txt file, but is there a way I can use an X-Robots directive to block the crawlers from indexing any pages that have the ?srsltid parameter? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Remember that Disallow and noindex are mutually exclusive. That is, if a robot can't crawl an URL, they won't see its noindex directive.

Has GSC dropped the Parameters tool? It isn’t clear from your post whether srsltid is the only parameter the site uses--or what the parameter does for humans.

I would use rel="canonical", for this.

Hi @NickMNS,

Totally cool with canonical usage. But, This parameter is only for organic shopping and I am seeing even third party tools are addressing it on category pages and PF (Page-filter dynamic pages) page.

I believe instead of these pages, only product pages which are available to Google through Merchant center's feed should be the one to be parameterized.

The problem is how to de-index even when your parameterized urls are appearing in the Google search based on the provided canonical to the clean url.

This thread is solved as the SRSTLID is something that only handled by Google Merchant center.

The srsltid parameter is a query string that Google Merchant Center (GMC) appends to links in organic shopping results. It's used for conversion tracking and performance reporting.

How it works

GMC's auto-tagging option adds the srsltid parameter to URLs submitted through GMC.
The parameter tracks organic traffic connected to products in GMC feeds.
It helps ecommerce sites track how their product listings perform in shopping results and carousels.
It ensures that clicks from product listings to a merchant's website are properly attributed to Google Shopping.

Where it appears

The srsltid parameter appears in organic shopping results, such as Google Shopping.
It can also appear in every URL in the search engine results page (SERP) if an organic feed is present and auto-tagging is enabled.

How to use it

You can use the srsltid parameter to:
Connect Google Merchant Center to Google Analytics
Track the source of your visitors
Track how your free and paid product listings perform
