Happy New Year

I hope you survived New Year's Eve well and that your websites did too.

Apparently the upswing continues, I continue to see a slight improvement in the ranking and the number of readers. (on average +11.2 percent more per day at the moment).

It may be slow, but I hope it continues.

The storm arrived here 3 days ago.

Wish I could say the same. The storm arrived for us over a year ago, and those four ads appearing in the search results wiped out all organic traffic. It doesn't matter where we are ranked because Google has diverted all traffic to ads for the better part of a year. I just hope we see an influx of apps, that breaks Google's stranglehold over information, so people can easily find what they are looking for instead of being exposed to Googles's ad spam.

I have not seen a site-wide downturn, in fact non-USA traffic is still strong today. What I am seeing today is typical for Google these days. USA traffic is down 45% and Canada -65% at 12:30pm. Almost the entire drop is due to traffic disappearing from just two of the highest traffic and most important revenue producing categories on my site. One is -88% and the other is -91% today! They are both semantically related terms based on a place name.

When I check ranking for both, I am at #1 and #3 respectively...the same as ever or higher than ever. But traffic is -91%. There are NO ads at the top when I checked, and only one search has an image block at top, and my images have three of the top spots shown. Any viable explanations for how this can happen?
