I bought a geographical political domain that had great backlinks and redirected to a blog that was also in that same location but a different topic/niche/

I noticed my organic numbers have dropped. It's been about 2 months with the redirect. Should I stop it asap - if so how long will it take for Google to recognize that i removed the redirect?

The domain you bought could have possibly been penalized previously and have you verified the domain on Google Search console? I would immediately stop the redirect in your case. It could take a week or so.

If the page content wasn't the same on a url to url basis it's not likely that you got any benefit at all from those redirects. If, on the other hand, the content was the same Google will pass along nearly full value so long as they trust both domains.

If it's not the same, or you suspect trust issues, remove the redirects as they won't help anyway.

Yeah that wasn't just blackhat, that was just a wrong man (no offense, but what were you expecting to get from it).
