CTR and position going up on the 28th, not to the december and january levels, but slowly up. Was doing an average of 6000 clicks from search, and on the 28th it got past 1000 for the first time since early feb.

Hi Nonstop,

Yes they are all mobile friendly. It has something to do with the https i guess. But cant figure out whats causing the problem or if its a problem with google itself. Bing, Yahoo and all other Engines shows the Pages normally. Just Google Rankings are screwed up.

SantaCruze my site is on http not https but has still dropped,

I think google have changed something because the drop happened around 7pm - 8pm GMT which is about 11am Californian time.

when Google changed the image search (7th Feb) on their DE / FR sites I noticed the drop happened around the same time of day.

this gives them all day to monitor the results or roll it back.

What kind of sites are you all running?

mine is an affiliate site

Mine too, almost 85% is mobile traffic and before yesterday, I had like 50% of traffic from /amp/ pages.
No issues in webmasters tool.

Well, my site is a brazilian site, with esoteric and religious (both from our folklore) subject .

Nonstop,

My Sites are Technology Blogs. But iam using some Affiliate Links in it. But i havent got any Message from Google Webmaster Tools about Actions or Problems. The Traffic-Drop is about 60-75% from this morning. Also my third website (also https) is hit. But on that Site i dont use any Advertisement at all. So it shouldnt be a Penalty because of Ads or Affiliate.

Same situation here in all my 3 sites. Massive drop in all keywords without any obvious reason...

My website is also mobile friendly. I used AMP, but I removed it since this "penalty" with no side effects (my mobile site is performing better than AMP pages). No drops today.

Today, it's hard to point a common factor to all of us... :/

Ah, my websites are Wordpress based, heavily edited.

I am running an affiliate site too. It is a clothing niche-site and the most affected of all.
It dropped over 99% of organic traffic today. A few other affiliate sites running as good as yesterday (on http & https).
All my sites are running with a custom cms.

@Pav13: Can you please describe what type of sites, location and protocol (http or https)?

I checked my links in google webmasters tool and I found some links I think is bad.
I have something like 40 domains, each one with 2 or 3 links to my website. All links with the same "appearance" :
I already disavowed all them today.
Example:
onlinetechjournal.com

Off-topic: Is blogarama a bad link ? I have 2K links from them ... I remember of that directory from many years ago, never thought it still existed.

Okay something happened here in the last few minutes. All Websites are back listed and generating traffic. Iam not sure what was the cause of it. You guys should also check your rankings.

Sorry if my question is silly, but how do you check you ranking ?

There is this information in the Google's search console, but, if you are doing it by running a query with Google's search, manually or automatically, won't it be counter productive? I mean, if you run a query, just to look at your ranking, and click on none of the links, won't it let Google think that these results are not good (no click = disappointing results), and so encourage them to alter them?Producing more shuffling, up and down movements?

Also, since results are so much "personalized", what you see, is not what others people are seeing. Isn't it?

At least for me, it is the same low organic search.

@Dimitri

I am using google analytics -> realtime.
Almost everyday I was getting 60-100+ users online. From yesterday to today, I am getting 10-20.

@vens: All sites are content type with http protocol located in US servers. I use both adsense and amazon cpm and banner ads.
Do you think it's a "too many ads" penalty?

@LeoKesler

I think Google Analytics reporting is incorrect/broken today. I use a couple of other tools to check my pageviews, stats, etc. and those are still reporting the types of numbers I would expect, while Analytics is down about 20%. I'm mostly U.S. based, so I don't know how much that factors into things. The percentage difference could be varying by country.

@momsfavoriterobot

I am using statcounter, wordpress jetpack stats and google analytics. All them are showing low page views.
I like to use the realtime tool in analytics because it shows how many users are online at same time. It is... fun.

Hey guys, 80% of my sites were #*$!ed. Now they are ranking -20, -30, -40, -50. They are articles with pictures and long texts.
Of course Pinterest (Stolen pictures, data...) was not #*$!ed and it is ranking better. I dont understand anything.
I dont make any seo, i only create good content articles.

Anyone seeing any recoveries from yesterday?

We believe a Canadian client of ours was hit with Penguin back in Oct 2014. We finally seem to have recovered (think Page 7 to in the top 3 on Page 1 for ALL keywords) just yesterday. We haven't made any changes to the site in months. Anyone else seeing this kind of movement?

I think it's a recrawling or google cache cleaning but only for spec. country and spec. domain. In google.ro with site:mydomain.com i have 94.300 results, in google.com i have 94.400 results, in google.hu 8.130 results, in .de 94.400, in co.uk 94.400. This problem i saw it on 25 febr. But until 7 marc. my traffic it was normal (300-400 visitors). On marc. 8 my traffic was 50.

mydomain2.com, and mydomain3.com are works fine with same strategy.

Other intresting: with site:mydomain.com in.hu i see some links without of google cache.

No webmaster error, no mobile error, all my sites works with ssl, the seo with seo testers are 80-90 score from 100.

Any idea?

Hi guys! Been away for awhile from posting but i have been watching. Anyways, I too was hit last night by this update. I lost all keywords. I wont even rank for the first two to three sentences of any page. Had good page one rankings too for many short keywords. Site is 3 years old and content was written by pros and is unique. No linking was done by me except for social signals and it was on the light end.

Here is what I wanna to add. After investigating today I found a clown (more like a looser prick) that registered my domain name with .net last month, mine is ,org. He cloned my entire website last month and ranks better than me on stuff that i can get to show up in google searches. Filed all DCMA complaints today and still waiting for it to be shut down.

I believe this is how this update hit me. There isnt no other logical reason why entire paragraph searches are not showing my site in search results on any of my 500 professionally written articles. Must be a duplicate content issue of some sort.

Im not sure if this info helps anyone, but just wanted to add it so maybe it can help some of you.

I have never used black hat or any SEO techniques.

I've read other comments from other users who have never use black hat SEO so I don't think it's related, it's just webmasters on the black hat forum reporting the same thing that we are here.

traffic is still down today.

I checked my stats for yesterday and traffic is down 50% in all regions - USA, Germany, UK, France, Italy

bounce rate is the same as it always has been, desktop / mobile / tablet split is the same.

WMT shows that google actually increased the number of pages in it's index slightly (although data is still lagging)
