Are there any SEO benefits to link title attributes?

I'm aware that over optimizing internal anchor linktexts are no go after Google's Penguin update but what are your opinion on the use of link title attributes on internal links?

Are they any SEO benefits from adding link title attributes to f.ex. mainnavigatin links or localnavigavition links or might it be considered as a spamsignal in the SE?

No benefit! the days of stuffing keywords in attributes to improve ranks are long over! Use them in a descriptive way to improve the user experience only!

Agree! There is on benefit, but they are not considered spam also. Just e careful and don't overdo it, as Captain Salad say, be descriptive.

I haven't tested for a while, but back in 2010 I tested to see if Google indexes the 'title' attribute of images as well as the 'alt' attribute. They didn't.
