Changing language changes search results

Hi,

I recently noticed that when I use the wheel ( on the top right ) of google search result and switch the language, I see different results for the same search term.

For ex : for the keyword "green widget " in French I rank 1 st and in English I rank 9 th ? Where does that variation come from ( I am not logged in when I do the test ) ?

Could the result be based on the address google has in google maps for the company ? If the company is based in the USA and I search in English it shows me US based business 1 st and I enter in competition with US based business and if I search for the same terms in French it shows me the French based businesses ?

Google personalizes search results. When you change a setting it is likely it will change the personalized search results.

I understand that but what about if i move my company from Italy ( with an italian address ) to the USA with a us address will I suddenly rank better in the USA because I am now based in the USA ?

It depends on the type of product. If you serve local area then yes. If your product requires location to be added next to it when searching, then not necessarily.

Ok but should I use google map maker to change my business location on google maps ? when i go to google maps and type my business name it appears with the old address but when I click on the magnifier it finds it with the new address… ( in other words it has 2 address ( old and new one, what should I do ? )
