Domain Crowding In Listings Getting Worse

I am seeing as many as the first 14 listings from one domain (not including 8 sitelinks) followed by Amazon having the next 6 listings. 2 domains own the first 2 pages for a popular keyword. This is not a search engine. Its reminding me of the old Inktomi, a disaster in the making.

I've seen domain crowding on informational searches, too. Sometimes our mom-and-pop site has benefited from it, so I'd have to say that it isn't just a privilege of big brands.

I see the same. There is no room for anything but multinationals like Amazon and Ebay. Google threw diversity out the door along with the bath water, tub and even the plumbing.

If my memory is correct, Google used to have a strict rule (built into the algorithm) that the same domain can't appear more than twice in the top 10 organic results. I also remember Matt Cutts boasting about what a good rule it was.

@aristotle
sorry but that rule has not applied for about 2 years+
