Hi All,
I run an adult blog, not spam.. It is 2 weeks old

I was surprised to see my google hits go from 0 to 1500 in a few days, but now it has dropped down to 70. It held 1500 or thereabouts for 3 days. Is this normal?

I do realise my site is a few days old, but all keywords went from 1-3 to 50-170. I have not changed anything on the website or added anymore links to it that could have this outcome

is this all part of googles dance?

It's called the honeymoon period. Google gives fresh content a boost and then it drops down to where it should ordinarily rank at after being fully assessed. Keep adding more content to keep your visitors coming back for more. Good luck!

During the 'honeymoon period' Google gathers information about how people react to your site and that becomes your baseline, it's completely normal. Google has gathered extensive information about those people so, with any luck, you please the right ones.

I just wanted to add that even when outside the honeymoon period a certain percentage of visits from Google will continue to be for testing purposes, even if they are real people. These visits will typically be to your best pages but they can land anywhere. Make sure your site displays optimally for the Chrome browser, as you would any other browser.

Rephrasing turbocharged, with a slight twist:

Google gives fresh content a boost and then it drops down to where it should ordinarily rank, unless there's an "indicator" [like visitor behavior in the results] to say, "It's hot *and* a necessary result for Google's visitors to find," to ensure it continues to rank highly.
