Hi Guys,

I have one small doubt for which I need your help.

So, the website 'example.com' was verified in GWT using Email-1, then Email-1 is adding Email-2 as either user or owner of the verified site.

Now, Email-1 is no longer with the organization and Email-2 should take over its place.

What I noticed with GWT is that you cannot revoke an email address used to verify a site even though you have been added as owner afterwards.

So, what will happen if I remove the verification meta from the site and generate new one from Email-2 and put it in there?

The site will get verified, but will I still see the past data? Or the data from the day the new verification code was placed? I just don't want to lose the past data.

You help will be much appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

I have done that many times, no problems at all. Just remove all the codes, wait 24 hours and start over. I usually verify with Analytics now anyway.

Thanks @Netmeg

Wouldn't I loss the data during that 24 hours waiting period?

@Netmeg,

Cannot I just remove the code and put the new one and click the verify link as soon the code is placed? Why should I wait for 24 hours? Thanks :-)

Cause you won't get the verify link back the minute you remove the code - you'll have to wait till Google discovers the code is gone on their own.
