Authorship pic not showing up in 90% of pages

I have set up authorship on my site months ago with my G+ account, but my pic only shows up in about 5% of my articles. Anyone can hazard a guess as to why? My site is <snip>

Google considers my site low quality? Or some other technical issue?

Google will show only one authorship picture per SERP page. That is, if you site has two or more results on the same SERP, only one result will have the authorship picture.

Authorship markup will make it easier for Google to display a photo and byline with your search results, but it isn't a guarantee of such "rich snippets."
