Keywords ranking fall down after penguin update

Please suggest me:

My website few keywords are ranking at first page and few are at second page but after the penguin update i have lost keywords ranking only two or three keywords are ranking in near about 150 out of 20 keywords and few are ranking with other pages. All keywords are still performing well in bing and yahoo i mean there is no drop in ranking for bing and yahoo.

Now i have modified and completely update the content of my website.

About the back links, i am doing seo from last 6 months.
my website has back links from Article sites, bookmarking sites, business citation sites, video sites, classified sites, blogs and social media sites. No link from directories.

So, please suggest me what should i do to recover from this loss

Maybe this is a reason why you have been hit with the Penguin?

What kind of anchor text are you using in these links?

thanks aakk9999 for your reply

i have created anchor text on keywords in article sites but every time i didn't create anchor text for same keywords i have modified the keywords. On other sites except articles very less keywords specific anchor text i have created. I think, i have hitted by penguin due to these anchor text from article sites. One more thing i have submitted one article at 10 to 12 article sites but i have given article source link(where i have published article first time) at every article site.

So, what should i do now? should i delete these articles or should i edit or remove the anchor text from these article sites. please suggest me.

I don't think that article sites are a good way to get followed backlinks, and they haven't been for a long time. These are obviously under your control... and that's something Google doesn't like unless you nofollow those links.

Google is OK with article site and cookie cutter guest-blog links only if you nofollow them. The idea would be that if your site is good enough, the traffic should attract natural inbounds.

If you write high quality, original content for authoritative sites, that's another matter... but since you mention article sites and varying keywords but keeping other things the same, I'm guessing that you're mass producing this stuff.

If you are using the same techniques you used before to create these new links, then you are only creating more problems for yourself. You cannot self-place links and expect any good from them. The dupe content in the articles, or even roughly similar content, is one indication that you've self-placed these.
