Keyword position: same ip different rankings

Just a quick question,why is it that when searching for my main keyword on one pc in the same office I see my site ranked#10 and on my laptop it shows us #2 or when I check with a tool it shows me on the second page of results. Why is there such a difference? Could it be personalized search,pulling from different data centers etc.. Its just difficult to give an accurate report to clients on where they rank.

Do you have the same default location settings in both machines?

Are you logged in? Is search history on or off? (Note that, paradoxically, you can only turn your search history off if you are logged in and are accepting cookies).

To turn personalization off, try appending "&pws=0" to the end of query-string. Then recheck results.
