WMT>Crawl Errors. Green Ticks but Cannot Connect Messages

First Post on WebmasterWorld - so treat me gentley.

On WMT>Crawl>Crawl Errors I have a green tick for DNS, Server Connectivity and Robots.txt Fetch however when hover mouse over the Green Ticks I get these messages.

DNS - Couldn't communicate with the DNS Server
Server Conn. - Request timed out or site is blocking Google
Robots.txt - Crawl postponed because robots.txt was inaccessible

Google crawls the site about 10 times a minute from 66.249.66.144 so no access issues.Crawl stats show Pages crawled per day at 20,000

Fetch as Google works fine and Robots.txt file text in Blocked URLs works fine.

Sitemap works fine.

Only idea I have is that Google is using a new/different url to do the 'Green Tick' checking and that it is blocked in the hardware firewall.

Checked all the Google IPs I know (see below) and not blocked by ip ranges in firewall.

64.233.160.0 - 64.233.191.255
66.102.0.0 - 66.102.15.255
66.249.64.0 - 66.249.95.255
72.14.192.0 - 72.14.255.255
74.125.0.0 - 74.125.255.255
209.85.128.0 - 209.85.255.255
216.239.32.0 - 216.239.63.255

Hello ScottB2 and welcome to WebmasterWorld!

These messages you are seeing when you hover over the green ticks shown in Webmaster Tools -> Crawl -> Crawl Errors are the standard messages explaining what kind of error would this sub-section of Crawl Errors report on. If there was a problem, you would have a red x and not a green tick.

Therefore as long as you have green tick in there, there is nothing to worry about!

Thank you for answering this. Good to know that everything OK. A bit misleading on WMT with message it provides, and also that it seems to be checking when on hover before it shows the message text. It would be a better message to say 'Everything OK'- anyway thanks for the reply - appreciated
